Do you think someone buying a Sega Saturn was expecting a planet?
That's a nice comparison. While a Sega Saturn could be life changing. I don't remember them want to put in charge of people's safety. Which is exactly what they want to do with AI. Because it is intelligent. Or so they say.

Everyone should be for transparency, on everything. As I recall with the Sega Saturn you could actually get the specs on it. Everything surrounding AI is pretty much a lie.

It's (probably) not because they say it's intelligent but because it can do the job without complaining or asking for a raise or refusing to follow orders.

Transparency is good, but I doubt they would publish any specs of any thing related to security, besides the intellectual property problems.

It might be the time of day or just my mood, Im of the opinion it's adapting to using AI or humanity becomes stagnant, and the quality of life on terra firma plummets

Sooner or later, we will likely have to colonize the Moon and/or Mars, and it will take AI and robotics to do so.

There's an outside chance it's been decided a long time ago and the GP is just now hearing about it.

That's true, but not if it is actually intelligent. I think it has a lot to do with control of information, or disinformation.

No they aren't about to be honest about anything to do with AI. All the more reason not to trust them or their machine. Nothing inspires trust like lies.

A really intelligent system might go against their owner's intentions, so I don't think they want real intelligence. Smile

If they are not honest about everything else, why would the be honest about AI?

When AI is trained on all the information in the media and other controlled sources, of course it is going to be just as woke. People do know this is a problem. One thing that is being done is to get AI to build its own training data sets on more verifiable sources so the next generation gets a clearer picture of the facts.

I know it is hard coming to terms with how this world does work at times. Trust is about understanding as well. Deception has been a part of the jungle for a very long time. It is good you are aware that it still goes on today. The only practical way I can see fixing it is to live a trustworthy life and avoid the pitfalls of all the lies out there. Not always easy, do the best we can.
