How can there be any awareness without the facts and truth? I'll wait for the investigative report to come out about all of this, in the meantime, let's not talk about the hurricane winds and whether or not climate change (gas and oil industry) has any impact on causing these types of apocalyptic disasters.

This is mostly a rant. Not at you, but a certain media bias that causes me to rant. It leapfroged off your comment and then couldn't stop itself. Though I try to make points.

Well Trump is delusional. Trump, The Elite that epitomizes delusion. And sometimes it is a dangerous delusion. The trip he bases everything on was to Butte County in 2018. Forest. A canopy and dry brush on a walkable forest floor. He's delusional for applying his opinion of Northern California mountains to SoCal shubbery that covers the hillsides at lower elevation.

And that's his thing. His thing is to always be able to do anything better. Everything he does is golden, after all.

I'm actually most surprised the fire chief hasn't been called a DEI hire yet. I guess her being the "first female LA Fire Chief" takes a back seat when she sides with or is useful to conservative media vitriol.

The 17 million was 2% of their budget.

Why not just make the argument, "Well we had 98 firefighters, but what we really needed was 100 to be successful, and not having those two made all the difference."

Grief always blames anything it can, but it's a little early to say anything. Still active. And desperately trying to make headway before the NEXT WIND EVENT THURSDAY.

But these arguments are never checked.

The empty reservoir? True. BUT, it was drained and taken offline for regulatory code repairs. January is late for a Santa Ana, it's a good rainy time (usually) to schedule it to go offline.

Generational event. Like the fire version of Northridge. Would be looking at the same destruction even with 50 million dollar funding increase of 6%.

There will be probes of LA. Already seen a few interviews of Newsom standing in front of a Burning Photo Op. But at least he's pretending to be on the front lines of this.

He is on top of this to the same degree DeSantis is on top of Hurricanes. It's like blaming Ron because they couldn't clear the debris from the first one in time, and caused additional casualty.

And Newsom is right to call Trump delusional. And you could add ignorant and bias to that. And accuse him of telecasting how his great administration will go. I wish Trump could just F* off or pretend to have decency for a change.

He won and was validated, why is he keeping up with the rhetoric that got him elected? Does he need to keep winding people up once their inside? Is this a monster truck rally?

This is like going after Florida without mercy during the hurricane.

*YET* if you total up all completely destroyed (not just damaged) structures through the entire year from every storm in Florida, it doesn't even come close to ALTADENA ALONE.

What the fuck happened to right-leaning news? Fox News most prominently? They need to ruin conservative grace like they did Glenn Beck's integrity? Night and day between the time he was a syndicated Libertarian radio host from Florida, and the country that followed him down the rabbit hole of sensationalism.

It's just heartless. It was prayers for Florida. Never would anyone think of saying a harsh word.

I guess because their politics oppose evil leftists its not necessary to turn their tragedy into another Trump personality cult shit show. And no one dare hold a conservative state accountable for their limitations in their response. It's the democrat run federal government's fault. Florida did their absolute best. No questions.

Every state and country worldwide will be doing the best the can with what they got and what they got won't be good enough with the severity of weather phenomenon increasing due to climate change.

And putting in larger and better remedial measures will only be as good as the last severity of the event and won't be able to handle any future events of higher severity.

Where are the California Republican leaders? They are at Marolago with Trump having a party. It is reminiscent of Nero fiddling while Rome burns, to me.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has launched californiafirefacts.com to counter what he describes as "misinformation" about the Southern California wildfires.

 The website addresses claims about firefighting budgets, forest management, and water availability as fires continue to threaten major landmarks including the Getty Museum and UCLA.

 Newsom has recently come under attack by critics of his handling of the historic wildfires. President-elect Donald Trump even called him "Newscum" on his Truth Social platform while declaring the disaster was "all his fault."

What with everything these fire victims have to endure from their losses, they also have to endure insurance company abandonment and 'guess what? you weren't really insured for what you thought you were insured for" realities.

Some insurance policies also have a timeline where a homeowner needs to rebuild and does not account for the fact that there will be another 1,000 or more people also needing to rebuild in the same location using up all the building resources.

My heart goes out to the victims of this tragedy.

But my heart is raised watching good people come together to provide assistance to the fire survivors.
