California is crazy.

Assembly committee waters down bill to combat sex trafficking in California
What is wrong with California?  I really dont understand this one.  They voted this down once and now they have done it again.  If you read just the beginning of this is jaw dropping.  In what world is this normal?  These re grown adults elected to government positions that are voting this way.  This quote right here.  The very first line.  Just think about what is being said in it.  Shoplifting is a felony but not sex trafficking another human?
Quote:Efforts to make it an automatic felony to buy a 16- or 17-year-old for sex in California were rejected by the Assembly Public Safety Committee on Tuesday.

California is almost beyond hope.  Well at least LA and San Fransisco.  I know a lot of California is normal.  I think its time to either split that state up or let it go.  it can be our version of the gaza strip.  I cant imagine anything that the rest of the country has in common with these people yet they have a crap ton of electoral votes and give the democrats and automatic hold on 54 electoral votes.  Anyplace that things buying and selling other humans especially minors is completely out of touch with the rest of our country.

what's the "general conspiracy" here? pizzagate stuff? hollywood pedos? legislators at mask parties? or is it cartel collusion?

anyway the objections to this seem to quite disingenuously conflate victim with perpetrator:

i kind of agree with not giving cops free range to arrest for "loitering" or "suspicion", without pretty strict requirements though. and the moral corruption is obvious. but is that a conspiracy, or culture? we all know california is crazy haha.

Probably huge pedo rings in california but you draw the conclusion. This is the second time this bill has been proposed and the second time they have shot down something that seems to be a no brainer.  How is this not already a law in that state.  The insanity there is nuts as if they are purposely trying to plunge the state into chaos.

I don't understand it myself.

Once again, lawmakers are working harder to protect criminals over victims.

Here's an OpEd
I'll sum it up: it *could* bad for brown skinned people and "alternative lifestylers" who *might* be unfairly targeted by simply *existing* in high traffic areas.

You gotta understand these "people" are paid for. There's no other excuse unless they are just inherently evil to the core.

Could it be both? ABSOLUTELY.

California was just repositioned as the 4th largest economy in the world. To look around though, it begs the logical question of HOW could it be? Now they're probably going to want a seat at the UN!

The leadership is utterly compromised and morally sick, and what's worse, is the people here are so well programmed, even abhorrent, disgusting decisions like this are inline with party values somehow.

Makes me wonder if someone or several someone's, with more money than morals, that are also members of certain religions that marry 12 year olds are backing the fight against this.

Regardless, they are sick not to pass this part of it.  You should never be able to "buy" a human.   No matter the age.

Forth largest economy in the world.  Now how can they do that.  I know, most of the countries imports come through California and the products are marked up there, then shipped to the rest of the USA.

But now, part of that economy may be an estimation of the hooker trade.  Evidently that money is counted in the economy, and the tax comes from all the fines of people who get caught going out with hookers.  See, they did make it so underage Hookers could not be arrested, they focus on busting the people who pay for the services, they have money, and many of them are probably tourists...win win for The state coffers.

It is easy to have a very large economy when the cost of living is so high in California and the wages match the cost of living.  I remember when they were paying McDonalds workers here five bucks an hour in the U.P, one of my friends kids went to California and worked there for around twenty two bucks an hour at McDs.  But with all the prices of things so high, all he could afford is to rent an efficiency with someone he knew and the rent was so high that he was better off back here in the U.P working at McDs.  So he moved back here, saving a little money from there, which was enough to live here for two months because of the way lower cost of living.  He did mention that there were lots of those kind of service jobs there, but no really good jobs available where he lived.

I would never even consider moving to California myself, I know a few people who moved there, and their personalities changed because they thought they were better than us Yoopers, they got brainwashed into believing their high pay made them superior, yet their wages actually did not go any farther than a similar job here, especially with all the tax they paid directly plus included in products they bought because the cost of the product was partially higher because the employees of businesses were taxed so much.

I'll stick to upper Michigan or Wisconsin to stay within, prices are way less than other states.

They say the road to hell is laid with pure intention, but I'm not so sure here.

The rationale is misguided. They want 16 and 17 year olds removed to protect high school relationships and unnecessary felonies. Like the 18 years old senior dating the 16 year old sophomore. Because this law is the only thing that threatens consensual sex between them.

There's advocacy and too much advocacy. And times when the better advocacy yields to wacky logic of the worse advocacy.

The sex victims groups are asking how the rationale even applies to sex trafficking charges. The 18 year old doesn't buy the 16 year old, and if they're thinking paying for a date could be used to go after high school kids, they are fucking retarded and wacky.

A democrat wrote it. Very bipartisan. A Democrat governor getting ready for 2028 fully supports it, even our DA (who is center-right) and extremely homosexual mayor (center-left) support it. Especially, because that is exactly the age of the exploited girls the gang-prostitution rings march to our streets in stripper heels.

These disconnected folks in Sacramento must not have a Southcrest or National City, where underage prostitutes walk by seedy motels adjacent to 32nd Street Naval Base housing (inexplicably)

Maybe they are aware what happens and don't want to get a horny sailor tossed in the brig and out of the military? In extenuating circumstance land anyway.

But If you want to let us go it alone, that's cool, but it could yet be destroyed in an hour. LA can anyway. The basin is like jello.

I live in Oklahoma and we are one of the states that liberals like to point to as being "poor".  Well that all depends on your definition of poor.  We have one of if not the lowest cost of living in the country.  Its been a little dinged under Biden due to home prices and car prices going up and we do suffer in the car area because they are necessarily cheaper for us compared to other states but houses are another story.  Right now you can buy a 2700 sq/ft house in a descent part of town for around 280k.  Before covid hit I refinanced my home at 184k.  my house was built in 1980 and is 2900 sq/ft in a descent nighborhood near all the shopping and food in town.  Its a suburban neighborhood full of middle class types.  I am going to bet you in California or NY (you know, liberal shit holes) this same house would run over a million.  So are we poor?  Or are we a better value? They are NOT the same.  But we get called poor.   Cost of living means a lot and you can tell the areas that are poorly ran sometimes based on it.
