Burning the USA Flag

A secessionist or rebel.

I was thinking of flying the Danish flag because of Greenland and because my personal origin myth starts with a Danish mercenary who signed on with William, Duke of Normandy in his fight with King Harold.

The problem is that the mercenary signed on in 1066 and the Danish flag didn't fall from heaven until 1219, so my mythical ancestor couldn't have been carrying one hidden in his kit. So Danish flag is out.

I read somewhere that Americans can fly any flag that has been authorized as official. Maybe I'll find a flag that was official before Texas was admitted into the Union. Hopefully my neighbor who flies the Texas flag won't notice.
There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people. - Commander William Adama

Haha, and we gave the USA Georgia, because King George no longer wanted it, LOL. Now Trump The Supreme Being wants Greenland, because it's a strategic position against his great freind & ally Putin??
Really?

Okay leftists and Trump haters, here's your prime rib.  Something I disagree with Trump on.

He wants to make flag burning illegal.

Now I hate flag burners, as a vet it bothers me.

BUT, I respect the 1st Amendment enough to let douche-twinkies burn it.

Your thoughts?

My thoughts?

I can burn the American flag, just not Israel’s?

Hmmm. Okay then.

it should be the same rules as it always been:
"You can burn anything you want in the privacy of your own home, but as soon as you start burning items in public you should be prepared for the reactions of how burning things affects others."

It's the part that people forget about when they discuss the 1A. You can say whatever you want but you are also held responsible for what you say. So, burning a flag at a commie clan meeting will get you pats on the back, but burning a flag at a Veterans Day Parade will get you a different kind of action on your backside. Taking responsibility for your own actions is sadly becoming a lost art in these modern times.

I get your point. But you aren’t getting mine.

Why can I burn mine own flag that I live so dearly while it’s government continues to tarnish its image at home and abroad.

Meanwhile same said government said “it’s bad m’kay” to burn Israel’s flag.

Now I’m not sure if is this is a pure 1A issue or something else. Because if it’s the 1A sounds like censorship, and if it’s not, well then that’s something else entirely.

So which is it. And in either case why is this okay for one and not the other? Not sure I know the answer here. Is this a SCOTUS issue? Or was it?

The issue as to why you can or can not burn the Israeli flag has to do with context. As I pointed out, you can burn anything you want, but if you do it in public you have to accept the backlash of what you are burning. With the Israeli flag comes the issue of being antisemitic. Then the question is are you burning their flag due to policy issues or out of antisemitism?

You need to defend why you are burning it. The issue is really a nonissue at it's base. You can burn the Russian Federation flag or the Canadian flag, but you still might have to answer the question as to why you are burning them. Same goes for any flag really. So if you want to burn the Israeli flag are you doing so due to political reasons, or is it out of hating the religion?

Not worth it for the money.

Hardly any heat or light and then its gone.

Plus, plastics, very black smoke, sticky residues and pong! Probably poisonous.

Neither. The context being it is illegal and not allowed.

Just pointing out the 1A seems to think some people are more equal than others too.

And bullocks to your “non-issue”. But we can agree to disagree I suppose.

Can you cite the American law stating that it is illegal please? I'd like to peruse it.

Does that include the Confederate flag?
