Of the 1,000 members how many are 'active'.
(like come on at least once a month).
ATS had hundreds of thousands of members.
But only a few thousand active ones.
I think I remember reading that over there.

Not besmirching the lurkers...
All are welcome to the flock of the Church of Denied Ignorance, even the silent
I lurked for 2 years on ATS, posted a few comments, and was definitely besmirched by Phage and didn't post again for a year or two later.

Being one in a thousand is better than being one in a million. Maybe with the increasing members, more will be online at a time. Maybe more will start threads too that I can comment on. Don't particularly like to start threads much myself, feel I should be constantly monitoring and getting back to all the replies.

Agree, however never underrate the power of arguing with yourself. Once you can have a passionate argument with yourself and Lose, then you are truly free.

Yeah, I just have some opinions and a few of them are strong ones, but classified as passionate?
My passion is with my family and my close circle of friends....
But one of my stronger opinions is that discussion boards work better when we speak rationally instead of passionately

I hear you, however, it doesn't have to be one or the other. Surely you can remember a speech in your past that was articulate and rational and passionate and it MOVED you, and your life was changed by having been there to see and hear and remember that moment. That is passion, friend, and I know KNOW you've been there.
Well, maybe just me, but I've had some mono-a-mono self convos that got pretty reckless, but problems got solved Jack. Oh yes, they did. And...... they made a difference. It took me at least two decades to learn to be brutally honest with myself. After that, it was easier to laugh at me. Or was I laughing WITH me.

I had literally forgotten about this place until the dying days of ATS. I had to create a new account, since it had been so long. I'm really hoping this place doesn't become a far-right cesspool like ATS did. 20+ years ago, ATS was pretty good at being more centrist and showcasing multiple viewpoints, and that's what I'm hoping we can build here.
