Are you ready for the return of Jesus Christ? Have you been cleansed by His blood?

True goodness and virtue come from empathy and reason.

Not from fear or reward.

Being kind, just, and honest should stand on its own merit.

Even when no reward is promised in this world or the next.

Cheers for the scripture all the same.

The ancient Egyptians with their older deities had a better system -- the law of Ma'at which basically says "don't be a jerk."  That avoids some uncomfortable conundrums like "sending babies and children to hell because they were 'born in sin'" and "deathbed confessions" where the dying sinner converts but his victims (who may be of a different culture), young and old, are sent to eternal punishment and one that the Mormons are trying to work around "homo sapiens arose about a million years ago.   What happened to all those souls and why wait until 2,000 years ago to wake up and reveal the deity?"

The ancient Egyptian gods were a much kinder lot.

God created man in His own image and with His own likeness and set the first man, Adam, in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. But Adam sinned by disobeying God and became corrupted, and because we are all his descendants, we have inherited his sinful nature. Sin is the violation of God’s Law, and the “wages” of sin is death. Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, Adam, and death through sin, so death spread to all mankind because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Thus, we are all justly deserving of everlasting punishment—the destruction of soul and body in hell. But even so, in His love, God already had a plan to save and redeem us.
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us, paying the debt for our sins, so that through Him we may be saved. Unlike us, Jesus was conceived in the womb of a virgin by the Holy Spirit of God and therefore did not share Adam’s sinful nature, but rather He had God’s nature. Jesus, in every respect, was tempted as we are yet He remained without sin—like a “lamb without blemish or spot”, the perfect and only sacrifice worthy of taking our place. For by the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was scourged, mocked, crucified, and killed for our sins, taking upon Himself the punishment we deserve. He was then buried and raised back to life after three days, in accordance with the scriptures. He then appeared to more than five hundred individuals in the forty days post-resurrection before being taken up into heaven out of their sight and returning to His Father. Fulfilling every one of the many Old Testament prophecies pertaining to Him, He now sits at His Father’s right hand and is awaiting His Father’s instruction to return. This was all recorded in the scriptures contained in the Holy Bible, which is the word of God and is able to save our souls.

Jesus Christ promised that all who believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace and not by any merit of our own. Upon His return, all the dead will hear His voice and come to life—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and later, those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment. Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart in rebellion. Whoever conceals his sins will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy and forgiveness. Therefore, fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgement, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. Making sure to be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving ourselves.

If you repent and believe in the gospel, placing your faith in Jesus Christ, you will inherit salvation, which leads to everlasting life. With this salvation comes a necessary spiritual rebirth; God will give you a new heart and His Holy Spirit, which will give you wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, put His Laws into your heart and write them in your mind, guide you into all the truth, help you, and comfort you. By the blood of Jesus, sanctifying you and cleansing you of all unrighteousness—conforming you to His image.

In an act of faith, all believers are called to be baptised in water in the name of Jesus Christ. To be buried with Christ by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, you also might walk in newness of life. Having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power towards believers. To be called children of God and dwell with Him in the kingdom of heaven forever, where death, mourning, crying, and pain no longer exist.

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the present darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. The devil, who is called Satan, and all his angels, which are also referred to as demons, have been cast out of heaven for their choice to sin and rebel against God. They are our greatest threat in this world, even though at times it may seem like it’s each other. Satan is the spirit that is now at work in all those who are living in disobedience to God. We must be very careful about what we hear and believe, verifying everything against God’s word in the Bible, for many false prophets, teachers, and brethren are in the world and among churches, like wolves in sheep’s clothing. But fear not, for God is greater and with us always.

We now await our blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He is coming soon with eyes like a flame of fire and all His angels with Him, and every eye will see Him. But concerning that day and hour, no one knows—not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. Therefore, those of us who are eagerly awaiting His appearance must be diligent to be found by Him without spot or blemish and at peace. Counting the patience of the Lord as salvation. There are some things in the scriptures that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction. Take care that you are not carried away by the error of lawless people and fall from your own steadfastness. But grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

No, I do not feel I have been cleansed in the blood of Jesus Christ.  I believe in God and Jesus, however I know I was granted free will.   I don't think that God will burn me or mine with "eyes like a flame of fire".   My God, apparently, is different than yours.  My God is one of love, and forgiveness.   The God I know understands about human weakness, and doesn't seek to burn those who wander from His path in a cauldron of fury.

I think it is possible, since God gives us free will, that He wants us to use those choices to form our own views.  I think He wants us to be happy, and to live our lives fully and to help others as we would want to be helped.   I don't know for certain, it's just what I feel in my heart.  God has painted many pictures which we can see when we go outside and look at His works.  I don't think God wants us to worship Him.  Does that shock you?   I think he wants us to love one another, and in doing so, we honor His works.

But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and washed us from our sins by his blood— (Revelation 1:5)

You must believe in a differen't god to the God of the Bible. My post is essentially a composite of Bible Scripture. Free will is a false doctrine and not found in the Bible. Nobody has free will—as Christ proclaimed, "unless you repent, you will all perish" (refer Luke 13:1-5). Woe to the one who is not cleansed by the blood of the Lamb.

You catch more flies with honey rather than with vinegar.

Command someone to do something, and they take issue.

Ask them, and they may very well acquiesce to your request.

Same with telling people they can't have something, it's only apt to make them want it more.

You would imagine God would understand the human condition more if indeed he created us.

None of which, I should add, changes what that mob has gotten up to and perpetrated throughout the greater part of recorded history.

The problem is that the Bible, both testaments, is full of a lot more than wisdom and instruction.

It contains many troubling and violent elements alongside its parables and teachings.

There are stories of genocide, slavery, misogyny, divine wrath, and harsh punishments that can be deeply unsettling.

I would fear the fella in the Old Testament, put it that way, because that's not benevolence imho.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

Can you let me know what time he's due to arrive, I'll need to tidy up?
Is being cleansed with blood sanitary? I'd go more with a good bar of soap. If it helps, bicarb' and white vinegar are good for getting blood stains out after dosing of ones self in blood.

A man named Jesus may of walked the earth 2000 years ago, but everything written about him was a few hundred years after the fact so isn't really reliable.

Don't worry, we have nothing to fear. God couldn't even beat a few iron chariots.

You should keep reading..

Judges 4:14-16

Then Deborah said to Barak, “Go! This is the day the Lord has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the Lord gone ahead of you?” So Barak went down Mount Tabor, with ten thousand men following him. 15 At Barak’s advance, the Lord routed Sisera and all his chariots and army by the sword, and Sisera got down from his chariot and fled on foot.

16 Barak pursued the chariots and army as far as Harosheth Haggoyim, and all Sisera’s troops fell by the sword; not a man was left.

I didn't need to continue reading, I've read it before. I just though that line was pertinent.
The all powerful still couldn't handle a few iron chariots and needed Barak's advice and 10,000 men. So on his own he couldn't rout or defeat the Iron chariots, still proving my point.  Biggrin

You may have been medically dead but not actually fully physically dead yet, as in your energy hadn't left your body yet. Otherwise you probably would have been outside your body.  Probably needed a few more minutes ;)
The fact that you even perceived 'black' meant that there still was  a 'you' to perceive it.
