The problem is that any such finds are very rare. Of the estimated 120+ billion human and prehuman there have been in the last million years or more we have only bits and pieces of 6,000 of them. I hope there is no reincarnation. Who knows what we'd become by that time or what resources we'd have left? Also, I don't think I'd want to know what excesses and insanity we created with what would be a lost civilization by that time. There would be regrets and shame with every shovel full I suspect.

The oldest pieces of worked iron are nine small beads, dated to circa 3200 BC, found in burials at Gerzeh, Egypt. At the Tel Tsaf site. A copper awl was discovered which was most probably buried along with the woman. According to the scientific dating of the site, the awl is roughly 7000 years old. That probably makes it the oldest metal artifact ever discovered.
