Anyone know what this is? Venus? Saturn? UFO?
#1
Ok, it’s not a UFO, but now I know why people sometimes think planets are UFOs.

This was next to the moon tonight. Incredibly bright…

Anyone know what this is? Saw Twitter post and people are saying lots off things. Not seen a concensus or knowledgeable post yet with a definitive answer.

Put it on my YouTube, take a look and tell me what it is… just to left of moon. Edit.. right of moon, not left. Just to right of moon.

Thank you.

That was my first guess. Some were saying Saturn on Twitter. But it’s lower right of moon like Neptune in that diagram.

Never seen Venus so bright. No Twinkle at all. Thought it was a satellite at first but it’s too big for that.

Hey, I saw that! It was really bright! And the angle of the horns of the moon look all cattywampus, too. Yeah, probably Venus, and that was my first thought, of course. Didn't think much of it because I'm not too used to the night sky here. A relative actually pointed it out to me. Glad to see someone else thought it was unusual too. I'll mention it to her.

Get the 'Star Tracker Lite' app for your phone. It works great!

I recall making this observation first hand... eventually I came to Venus, but that entire line of thought was mostly obliterated as I marveled at the object's brilliance.

My reasoning was swept up in a "Wow!" moment; (something like this happens in "wow" moments, for me, at least.)

So for an instant (in hindsight) it seems I was simply awestruck.

That's nothing to ignore experiencing, in my humble estimation.

Not being particularly well versed in astronomical history, I can only imagine how we might have once imagined the spectacle of the heavens (even before we "knew" of planets, stars, comets...)  Something like this must have spawned anticipation in any observer... and considered with great sagacity.

I can see getting lost in the wow moment.
