Anyone know how to get a book published in 2025?
#1
Just finished my fiction book. 3rd times a charm, as I’ve tried twice before.

Used to be you sent out a bunch of unsolicited, books/letters/samples to agents etc…

now?

I guess I could self publish on YouTube using ai to read the book. I listen to books like that on YouTube to sleep. Nothing if else I will do that.

other ideas?

dont want to randomly google how to publish a as 99 percent of the returns are people selling how to make money writing… which is 99 percent bs to make money for themselves.

anyone know someone? That seems to always be best solution.

There are firms that will publish the book for you if you pay them. I'm just on my second with Austin Macauley (the theory being that it might be succesful enough to encorage tradtional publishers to start picking up the others).

I met a guy at the supermarket this weekend.  He was sitting at a tiny table by himself with some books.  He was giving a signing .  I hadn't heard of him. It was very strange fiction, 'steam punk meets sci fi meets horror!'   Thomas Edison with a zombie army and Nicola Tesla with aliens type stuff...
He gave me a book mark.
I asked him who his publisher was.  He said 'Amazon.'
I guess that means self published like Lulu.  With the little barcodes on the inside end papers.
Hm.

2 friends of mine who are authors use Lulu.  Their products are fairly good quality.
The Amazon ones seemed about the same for the paperbacks, but I am not sure if they do hardcover like Lulu does.

Here try these folks.

You will have to pay a fee for the publishing of your book, but they are a pretty good company.

Thanks everyone.

ouch 5-20k to get book published. A ‘chance’ a publisher will look at your work. That is opposite of making money.

seems like publishing has shifted. They are a money making machine to make money from those who want published.

But at that point, aren't you just publishing it yourself?

I'm not sure the "industry" we often think to trust with "publishing" are very much on the up and up... but I could be wrong.

It's in the distinction between creative, or substantive works as "human expression" and as "property."

Sorry... that's where my head goes with this stuff...

I think it would be great to get your work out there!  Thumbup
