Anyone know how to get a book published in 2025?
#11
I worked for a publisher.  Getting a book published these days by an unknown author is near impossible.

My suggestion -- build an online site -- create a blog discussing how/why you wrote your book.  Why its personal to you.

Word of mouth -- still the best tool.  When you think you have enough followers -- self-publish -- schedule book signings and discussions -- at local coffee houses - etc.

I self publish on Amazon, but I'm a niche market.
Annee is quite right, getting published by a 'house' is not what it used to be.

So much truth in this.

Agents won’t touch you unless you bend the knee to their agendas. Queried a lot and it’s as stated above.

Fortunately I have come a long way in the last year.

I have several books published.

Growing my Twitter, almost 6k followers now, my latest book is making money. Sales mostly coming from there.

Not sure I can mention my Twitter or Author website but it’s pretty easy to find me ?

Talk to these people:
Home | Archway Publishing from Simon & Schuster

They might be a bit pricey, but they are very helpful for anyone writing their first book or even their fifth book.

Disclaimer:
I do not work for them but have used their services to publish a book and found them very helpful in getting it out there.

I can’t really help you on your question but congratulations on your new baby girl!  Saw some more pics yesterday and she’s absolutely gorgeous.   I see a big bat by the front door in your future. Lol
Apparently I’m in cult now, someone here told me so.

I will check out, but I’m starting to make money now through Amazon.

My latest book has over 10,000 pages read since launch on November 1st.

I had only about 4000 page reads for all of my previous books this year.

It’s not a lot, but I’m growing as an author and building a following. Hope I can continue to grow and hope people are enjoying my books. All feed back and star ratings have been very positive.

It’s nice feeling each book is better than the last.

I’ve invested far more than I’ve made. The professional epub maker and other expenses exceed the amount I’ve made ?

Thank you! She is very cute, going to be gorgeous like her mother! …and, yeah ?

This is an old thread, I have published several books now.

Actually starting to recoup the expenses I’ve sunk into getting started.

Glad I’m easy to find on X. It’s not hard to find me there if you know me here or from ATS. I have a link in my bio on X to my website. ?

aside:
I cannot reiterate enough what UB said above. That is very accurate information!

I don’t think I can give specifics here. I have published several books this year, mostly on Amazon.

My latest series is my first 3 book series. I published book one Nov 1. It’s outsold all my others combined. Working on book two—over half way through.

All my Amazon reviews have been 5 stars so far. Though I only have 3. 1 review on my previous book, 2 in this book.

Growing as an author. Feels good.

You can easily find me on X/Twitter I pretty much tell all there. Publish constant updates.

One Christian fiction.
The others are fantasy novels. My current series is about a US soldier catapulted into another world in the body of a weak teen age mage’s body and can’t even access his magic.

My last was a “what if” book: what if God sent an Old Testament style prophet into the world today to speak against a dystopian, over reaching, American government.

Isekai, timeloops, and dragons. Got to tap into that Millennial childhood LoTR nostalga, failure-to-launch regret, and burgeoning disaffectation with late-stage capitalist society.

Plus isekai, timeloops, and dragons are awesome.

Be sure to make it cozy!

And of course slice-of-life if possible. Lol
