History doesn't repeat in the same way, events don't rerun.
What repeat, are the patterns.
And we are supposed to learn from those, yet...
I agree.
I don't think we need to memorize past events and dates.
I do think teaching patterns is a smarter way.

The key insight is that the commie left are all evil, but some are more evil than others.

With the real kicker being it's people who are evil and corruptible.
As opposed to the system of governance.
Communism works perfectly on paper.
Just not in practice.
And which just goes to show.
Replacing one flawed system with a brittle ideal doesn’t solve the deeper problem of human nature.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

I say the same thing Andy. Most systems would probably work with the right people in charge.

I would like to think so also midicon.
But the problem would seem to be that absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Give people power and control.
And they tend to crave more of the same.
As opposed to sharing with the rest.

This pattern would stop if people chose better leaders.
They could start by being a leader in their own life and become the best version of themselves and then inspire others.
Right now, people choose leaders who will create more chaos and war just to hide their own crimes.
The Epstein files is a good example - they don't protect the victims, they protect the pedophiles. And they will create more chaos in the world, so people don't focus too much on the Epstein files, etc.

The pattern won't stop short of changing the basic paradigm humanity has followed throughout recorded history LightAngel.

So, you are basically saying that humanity is destructive and there is nothing we can do about it?
The idea that people are inherently destructive is a story, not a law of physics or anything else for that matter.
Remember that stories can be rewritten, and they often are rewritten by people like you.

Oh, there are things we could do about it, but at what cost?
"They" dont want to pay that price or change the great game.
It's not really about the people, but about how they are controlled.
The fact of the matter is that we don't play nice with others, including ourselves.
Humanity requires rules and sets of laws to be in place, else survival of the fittest becomes the colour of our day and anarchy prevails.
Freedom and security are not free.
Could we do better, i have to say yes.
But that does not mean that we ever will.
