That’s a fact. Every HazMat qualification and certification never had to sit through in 20+ years as a firefighter, we always joked (?) about the MEK “Rule of Thumb”: If you couldn’t cover the ENTIRE scene with your thumb on an outstretched hand, you weren’t far enough away and needed to fall back until you could. That stuff is nasty.

Many years ago I worked on explosives detectors at the airport. To clean some of their internal systems you have to use really pure alcohol to run through it. The company that manufactured them would go back and forth between it having to be done while the detector was really hot, which lead to serious burn off and everyone getting high as hell, and it being done with the detector cold, leading to everyone getting high as hell, but slower. Naturally, the only thing that could be used was MEK or acetone.

Kidney, brain, lungs, etc. The warnings took up the entire side of a can minus room to crimp the top and bottom of it.

Someone did that to you? On purpose?? NOPE.

I’m a pretty easy going sort, but anyone who had purposely done ANYTHING like that as a prank, or for whatever reason they could possibly have, would be toting a sound beating before the end of the workday. Shift ends at 0800, we’d be having a very intense interaction at 0801 out back. There are just some things you don’t DO with stuff like MEK.
