So basically, disinformation is misinformation with malicious intent

If one is doing it for financial gain, is this considered malicious intent because I would go as far to say that the majority of all social media content is disinformation, but by saying that, I may be guilty of misinformation

My opinion:

Disinfo is - by definition - crafted to purpose... deliberate... and usually backed by "authority."

Misinfo is just a category to allow us to accept the fact that repeating what you believe is not a crime...

(Of course if you know it's wrong... then it's disinfo after all.)

As with much that matters in life... Intent is everything.
