The passing of a scientist: Jane Goodall R.I.P.
#1
Jane Goodall, pioneer who discovered chimpanzees use tools, dead at 91 during U.S. tour

I decided not to let her passing go unremarked.

She displayed a singular devotion to a very difficult task... more so than most scientist ever do.

And amassed such an enormous body of priceless observations that I think she qualifies as a legend of her class.

Her death was announced by her foundation, the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), on Wednesday.

According to the organization, Goodall passed away earlier that morning "due to natural causes."

May you find all the answers you sought...

I met her once.  She has the most amazing peaceful aura about her.

I don't think she walks.  It's more like she floats across a room.

Miss Jane was really something, wasn't she?    Probably like most people, I have this mental image of her interacting with a troop of chimpanzees, possibly grooming each other.   She must have been such a gentle soul.   A real pioneer, and icon of goodness and patience and primate social collectivism.   I hope she had as good of a life as we imagine.

I imagine she endured a lot of discomfort and grief during the journey of her life.

From unimaginative critics to hostile sentiments...
as with most things, she evidently faced life, and still brought us long needed
knowledge... I doubt it was all sunshine and glory days...

Still...  I thank her.

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. I was just watching one of her videos on YouTube last week.
Such a great person...

It was this one...

She showed us that we really aren't that different from the other primates. (even if we think we are)

Like others have said, I have an image of her tracking and studying Chimpanzees after earning their trust.
