Just one of many ways that we are tracked on the internet. A member of ATS said recently on the subject that he didn't want to be someone's product which I believe is just as valid as privacy concerns. The less information they have on you the less they are able to pass on. Its not about having something to hide. Its about not having anything you want them to see.
Facebook are now using AI to scan your system for devices and recording their MAC addresses without your knowledge or permission (link below). This is a gross invasion of privacy. Thankfully I stopped using Facebook 10 years ago and don't allow Facebook or Instagram on my PC. I also de-googled myself 7 years ago. I use Youtube under a false identity under its own container tab on Firefox. I delete all data (cookies etc) when I close my browser. I am slowly losing my digital footprint.
Two YouTubers I follow and recommend on the subject of phone and internet privacy are Rob Braxman, the internet privacy guy. The other is Naomi Brockwell who is an online privacy advocate. Rob's video is about setting up Virtualbox. You can skip to 10:10 if you just want the ways a VM assists privacy which includes Facebook's new tactic.
The 2nd video is below in another post due to video limit of 1 per post.

My mind is open to all possibilities. But one thing is certain: they're hiding something.
