When I think about the anonymous engineer(s) discussion it reminds me and my analogy loving brain nothing so much as a feedback wave from a guitar left plugged into an amplifier with no one around to stop the strings from ringing.
All the juice and wires kept oscillating and pulsing and getting stronger and stronger without anything to clamp them down.
It must be super expensive to hardwire everything to be space weather resistant. But maybe necessary for SURVIVAL OF THE HUMAN RACE! If you value computing technology to do your thinking and analysing.
