I think the gimmick was to "add" new functionality to "smart phones" to 'track' your dental hygiene regimen.

Of course, since "smart phones" are SO VERY secure... it went there... like nearly every "application" ever made for smart phones.  Go figure.

It's not that your "old" ... it's that this is "new." 

And while later generations are conditioned to think "new" is automatically "better," it very often leads to "walking into walls."
