Well, I know our local VEHEMENTLY ANTI Trump diocese has done a lot. A lot of ordained clergy (from all denominations) consider hardlined and sometimes heartless immigration policy the antithesis of moral teachings.
It must be different money, because our diocese is also considering selling VERY VALUABLE property to pay hundreds of outstanding abuse lawsuits still.
They filed Chapter 11 in June of last year. They aren't making enough or taking enough of that 3 billion to even cover the 23 million they filed for bankruptcy over.
Consider it. Even if the entire 3 billion of government money was given entirely to the 360,000 people by a single bankrupt diocese, that still is just spending 8,300 per person.
And you know all that money didn't go to a single diocese. Given how governments spend money, I'd say the Catholic Church helping that many tempest toss'd huddled masses is really efficient. Considering they've likely helped millions nationwide.
A religious thread needs some scripture too!
Though they didn't really get into "legal stranger" vs "illegal stranger," or "illegal foreigner." I don't think there were any caveats of contingent applicability covered by scripture.
