A lot of explanations can most likely be found within the psychology, neurology and biological sciences.

I don't really understand what you are saying. If you are thinking I'm implying eating disorders are caused by aliens then you are on the wrong track completely. 

We also don't just look at one thing in psychology, neurology and biological sciences and declare someone has an illness.

 

The importance of looking at all symptoms can be illustrated by comparing the common cold and allergies, which share several symptoms but have different causes and treatments.
Both conditions can cause:

• Runny or stuffy nose
  
• Sneezing
  
• Sore throat
  
• Coughing
  

At first glance, they might seem like the same illness, but key differences help distinguish them:

• Fever occurs sometimes with a cold but never with allergies.
  
• Body aches are common with a cold but not with allergies.
  
• Itchy eyes are rare in a cold but very common in allergies.
  
• Duration differs—colds typically last 7 to 10 days, while allergies can persist for weeks or months if exposure continues.
  
• Cause is different: Colds are caused by a virus, while allergies are an immune system reaction to allergens like pollen or dust.
  

Why This MattersSomeone with a runny nose and sneezing might assume they have a cold, but if they also have itchy eyes and no fever, it’s more likely allergies. Misdiagnosing could lead to taking the wrong medication—cold medicine won’t help allergies, and antihistamines won’t cure a cold.
This example shows why it's important to consider all symptoms before making a diagnosis—focusing on just one or two can lead to the wrong conclusion!
