If I Had $1,000,000

The eternal question for every first date when you’re short of creativity and charisma (me.) What would you do with your life if you weren’t weighted down by the daily grind of work, but had the money to make your dream come true. I understand some people love their careers and wouldn’t change a thing—I’ve had jobs where I enjoyed the fulfillment of the day and couldn't see myself doing anything else.

However, most people might say:

• Travel the world on lavish vacations
  
• Build their dream home and land
  
• Pursue a hobby to the extreme
  
• Be comfortable!
  

These are all valid and appealing answers.

But today I think I have come up with an answer that would truly bring me contentment and happiness. I want to listen to people and really make them feel heard. I want to know who they are and what they’re about. I want to know what problem is most damaging and puzzling to them in their lives, and see if there were a way to help them out of that jam with a pearl of wisdom and a cash gift to make it happen.

I’m not talking about handing over the keys to a new Hyundai under the guise of 'helping people'. I ain't no frickin' Price is Right! I want to get into the deep down settings where someone might be at their lowest point, perhaps in the smoky corner of a pool bar, where I could sit for a spell and listen to your troubles for an hour or two.

Money can’t fix everything, but perhaps that along with the kindness of a stranger to bounce ideas off of to help come up with a solution can. Sometimes all it takes is an honest conversation with someone you don’t know to put things in perspective and find focus.

I'm a problem solver and I'd like to think one of my strengths is pounding my head against the wall until I produce a solution. I’m a really great judge of character I think. I can usually cut through the BS pretty quick and know what someone is all about. I also seem to have very strong intuitions about people that have proven to be correct countless times. I feel confident that I wouldn't be enabling someone to go cause more chaos out there.

I wouldn’t be getting off on being the decider of someone’s fate or anything like that. I believe I can remain non-judgmental and neutral. I just want to help others get some of the chances in life that I never had. I would like to transfer all the graces God has given me to someone else. I want people to believe in possibilities and second chances.

I’m not really sure why, but I feel a lot of weird emotions just thinking about this and expressing it. I feel foolish, selfish, and perhaps even guilty—I can’t describe why. I feel like a pretentious loser. Hubris! 

I feel so powerless right now. But I feel very rich and I wish I could figure out how to spread the wealth. You're probably thinking, "Hey Alroy just have a couple of kids," but that's a different story for a couple reasons ha.

Anyways, let's talk about your detailed visions. What would you do if you had $1,000,000 and...time?

Don't know how old you are Alroy, but Im 60, and thats still plenty of time for me to enjoy 1 million buckeroos.

Luckily Ive lived such a spartan life my contentment doesn't take much. LOL so after crying and thanking the Lord for my extremely good fortune

All I'd like is a semi-big back deck on a small cabin and a rural mountain view to enjoy and I'd be in hog heaven. 

I'd finally get myself a few acres up in the mountains somewhere probably midway between where my two now adult daughters live and/or get a place close to them where I could visit 3-4 months and rent it out the rest of the time and not be in thier business 24/7, they both live in states Id love to explore in an RV another option. 

Initially, I'd probably bank it and live off the interest and research my moves carefully, rent out cabins in a few areas before
investing 250 grand or so in owning some land and cabin, and putting away the rest for retirement to help my daughters, travel in the RV, etc.
