Make my wonderfully run county, with a no bullshit centerist DA, and the lowest crime rate of any metropolitan area over 1 million, a target of a made up crime epidemic of convenience to election rhetoric? No thank you.
1 of every 20 stays here, meaning we have 50,000 new undocumented immigrants in our county in 2024 alone, yet we didnt even record 35 homicides, and crime has fallen every year since the 2021 covid fallout high everyone experienced, when we recorded 57 homicides. Rape, assault, and robbery is also down from 2021.
And their certainly not on our streets. I don't know where people get that from.
Our homeless are people that were cut off by the state for taking advantage of handouts. The endemic of homeless were the ones that abused leniency during the covid rent moratorium and could not resolve their outstanding debt.
And as of today, their shitty social behavior of causing headaches for loss prevention and police is a felony when you steal to save your money for drugs. 70% of the population is cheering the change prop 36 officially brings. Criminalized homeless thievery.
I think it was a perfect storm of things people could blame on the wrong things. You could blame inflation on democrats instead of covid and Russia. You could blame crime on immigrants instead of covid and shirty poor domestic elements. You could blame everything on a polarized scapegoat and shoot all nuance and truer reasons to oblivion.
I see this heavy-handed threat as a continuation of blaming the wrong things. Now comes vengeance upon California. Scapegoating of the apex boogeyman of the exaggerated and misattributed problems that swung this election to a landslide.
Said TDS also gives me a completely different view of an archetypal devil about to play peacemaker.
