Sort of an old patent now, and one that didn't find a real market niche. But the point of it is that it is very possible to influence the body's fields, in fact the skin can act as a sort of highway for very low amperage signals quite effectively. With today's opamp and dsp technology the bandwidth can be quite high. Just look at the sophistication of wearable heart monitors now. It's even possible to strobe waveforms around the body and devolve the multipath sensed result, and detect articulation and contact, for example. That application is still a little too expensive and bulky for the consumer market however. But all these effects are done without (as studied) backwards effect on the body; the signals simply piggy-back on what's there, there doesn't seem to be subtle effects at low amps, even with high voltage.
