This is actually a good exercise for muscle relaxation, especially if you are having trouble sleeping. To get to sleep quickly, a special forces trick is to end it with closing your eyes, taking a few deep measured breaths, curling on your side, and focusing on the feeling in your face while relaxing. For some reason, you can drift right off.
For actually meditating, try doing this in a seated posture, combined with breath exercises, and with eyes half-closed, perhaps focusing on the tip of your nose.
