yes and it makes the story the narrative, like a rhythm, ooh quick breaking news! and then wait new facts just in! and then ooh heres the hottakes from each side! and then but wait those first facts werent quite right! and now here comes the blame game! and then oh its tomorrow and everything is forgotten -- hey look something else new!
it is exhausting!
would be nice to have a news reader app that the first thing when new story breaks is you clicky click to say like "delay 12 hours" or "delay two days" and then when that timer is up it just summarizes all the dramacrap away
but gotta get them eyeballs right? attention is money, and some news stories though are really breaking news but others are just like, feed the thirsty narrative
when the first earclip thing happened i was on a newsbreak and didnt hear about it until like 3 or 4 weeks after it happened and tbh kinda glad because so what is fretting and frenzy gonna do anyway. same with them appointing harris instead of biden, dontcare; is very easy to deny ignorance when crap dont matter
