In Oklahoma they just have a list of names and they check it off when you come in to vote. I haven't voted but I took my father in law. I could have easily just picked a name further down the list and voted. No id was required, no cameras either. So I can understand the need to have ids.
I don't understand how not having a id these days is possible, but if they are concerned maybe other authentication could be required for those that wish to vote but have no id. Like a voter id that you apply for that is free.
