No they reported that Trump claimed he was in the hospital.

I wouldn't put it past them, in a case like this, to send the shooter to the hospital regardless. For one, in an adrenaline situation, injury is not always obvious. And perhaps there's forensics to be done. But also, it enables the talking point "he was sent to the hospital", which is true, and cements the narrative of the driver being an active threat. Note there less comment on whether he was injured or struck by the vehicle.
