Asylum Application: He applied for asylum in late 2024 (during the Biden administration).

Asylum Granted: His application was approved in April 2025, which occurred during the current Trump administration.

Current Status: At the time of the shooting, he was in the country illegally as his temporary status had expired in September 2025, and his request for a green card (which is tied to the asylum grant) was still pending.

Oh pretel, anyone, how can he be simultaneously "granted asylum in April 2025" and "overstay the expiration of his temporary status."

Yes, multiple law enforcement and government sources have confirmed that the suspect in the National Guardsmen shooting was granted asylum earlier this year.

I thought when the asylum is "granted" in April it means you're no longer over staying your temporary stay if it ends in September? 

Don't call him a "criminal alien" call him the "criminal guy my administration approved asylum for!"

Be honest. Or we still blaming Biden for everything bad that happens?

Let him heal... Convict him of terrorism charges.  Send him to a lifetime of 23 hours a day confined at administrative maximum. 

Lefists are waiting and hoping for Trump's appeal to be denied by Dec 12th, so it gets temporarily made illegal to deploy DC troops... until the Supreme Court pisses on constitutional law some more and rules in his favor again.
