I was looking for something else and found this, as it relates to NDE's I figure it might be worth sharing here.
From the abstract:
Quote:Near-death experiences (NDEs) have been described consistently since antiquity and more rigorously in recent years. Investigation into their mechanisms and effects has been impeded by the lack of quantitative measures of the NDE and its components. From an initial pool of 80 manifestations characteristic of NDEs, a 33-item scaled-response preliminary questionnaire was developed
https://www.researchgate.net/publication...ence_Scale
I'm just starting on the pdf, so can not offer any insights at this time, but hoping its useful to others interested in NDE's
May aswell drop this here to.:

Hello BeTheGoddess
I was told by my parents who were told by two different doctors that I should have died on two different and non-related situations as a young child, but here I am.
So looking at your link with the scale, did you know it is from 1983? I thought to myself has there been no improvement since then? Well, it looks like the same researcher and the same date in the link below, but it was updated in 2022, however the questions may be the same from 1983 ?
https://www.iands.org/research/nde-resea...scale.html
It appears there are hell-like cases as well as heavenly-like cases.

Since my NDEs were as a young child and I can't recall the experiences, I can't answer any of the questions, but this is a very interesting topic and I will be happy to be involved, if only reading others' experiences.
As for Carl Jung, I never knew he had a NDE.

My NDE was on December 3rd 2008. A deliberate heroin overdose. They sent me back for some reason, possibly just some administrative error?. I did not notice it was from 83, as I only skimmed some of it before posting, as mentioned I was looking for something else.
I have spoken with two different psychiatrists, my regular doctor and at least one psychologist about my NDE. All said how common it is, but not abe to have anything other than peoples own experience.
I wont write out my whole experience, but the weighing of the heart against a feather was part of what I experienced om the other side

I dont know why I was sent back other than to be punished

The source you posted is weighing a heart against a statue for balance, so I'm not sure what you are trying to relay with the weighing it against a feather
I just recalled my mother's telling me of her NDE and she felt the same way you did. She did not want to come back but she said a man (who resembled, what I guess she thought was, Jesus) told her, in a forceful manner, that she needed to go back...so no argument there if it's coming from Jesus, right? Even as I watched her tell me of her NDE experience, she still grimaced when when came to the part where she had to come back here; she will be 90 yrs. old this year.
I really am very sorry you had such difficulties in life that you had to try to end your life. Are you any better now?

No, I am not at all from ANY Christian background. Living in a society that assumes christian by defult is hard to deal sometimes. Try telling a jesus freek about the chakra system existing in the kabbala, they try tell you "but Jesus.."
The procession of the dead has many different icons but the same philosophy. Thoth can be a green baboon, or some crocodile headed entity. The heart, scales, and judgement are the same.
"(who resembled, what I guess she thought was, Jesus) "
Ok, this is important, some atheist's I have known IRL who had been clinically dead say they experienced nothing, I ask well were YOU there?. People have NDE's influenced by their own philosophy, nad yes Christians often see a "Jesus" entity. in their own view. So the afterlife is in part to me what the person creates in some type of hermetic "be your own god" thing.
Hermies is the Greek equivalent of Thoth, but you knew that.

I should have rephrased that to "so no argument when coming from Jesus, right mom?" because you are right she is from a strict Catholic background and has wrestled with her faith all her life. Maybe there is something in that too.

RC is a broad church, and because of that, all Catholics wrestle with some of the contradictory things. But, their faith is still there. How does it go? On this rock I build my church?. Their faith is the rock.
I've kinda lost my train of thought on this, it is late here.

The scary thing ... most people think a NDE is a tunnel with a loving light at the end. But I've read many articles that state most people who have an NDE end up in 'the void'. Total nothingness. And that they disappear. They stop existing. I was all excited to be going somewhere really great based on the tunnel and light NDEs. Now I have had to rethink that.

As I kinda said in relation to the atheist's who claim "nothing" in their NDE, well were they there?. Its not nothing, its a world you create based on your own understandings.
As I'm sure you have noticed in NDE accounts have some similar themes not in the Christian tradition, you have read accounts talking about a "wheel", you know how to throw tarot.

I will confess I am no stranger to NDE, having experienced it on a few occasions. But I don't expect that any individuals' experience can compare quantitatively with any others. The qualitative aspect is entirely, by definition, internal.
Perhaps similarity of recollection and perception can be explained biologically, and psychologically. Perhaps there is a cultural connection as well, but I can't reconcile it against anything but my own experiences, so I don't try. "Explaining" it, is a matter of need. I don't need to. I've no one to "convince."
Doubt is natural. Embracing the doubt is a choice. Choices can be problematic to evaluate.
