UFOTwitter is full of fake UFO videos. But it’s pretty easy to tell.

Sora will change all that.

With a few words of text anyone can create videos almost indistinguishable from real life.

This is only a couple years of training AI. Imagine in 10 years. 20.

I have been expecting the hordes of UFO enthusiasts to eventually be completely deprived of any genuine digital material ever since I learned of the incredible capabilities of digital editing (and now even more so with the new AI tools.)

In the past, people would joke "pics or it didn't happen" ... now "pics" are practically pointless. 
We could just as well simply say "Pics don't mean it happened" with equal certainty.

It has always been like that, anyone (that knows how) can even create a "false" negative. Digital photography made things even easier.

I think you are right MM.  I know there are tell tale signs of editing that can be picked up by the specialists in this field.  I think AI is going to make it far more difficult for them. I watched a YT video a couple of weeks ago about the jellyfish ufo over the military base being critically reviewed by several digital video editors.  If I remember correctly 2 thought it was the real deal and 1 thought it may be fake (his reason being he thought some frames looked like a man with a jet pack on).  Each of them then presented a short clip and the other two had to say of it was fake or not.  Out of the 3 clips the most convincing one to me turned out to be bugs bunny upside down!

So, where we once complained of video/pictures of UFOs being grainy, without background/foreground reference points, etc. as that which did not allow us to identify with certainly a real UFO, now we have fake AI generated UFO videos/pictures which will show unparalleled sharpness of detail of UFOs; the complete opposite of what we have now. They should really add in that grainy and a little bit of fog feature at least to make it appear genuine.

you can still tell its ai by mistakes it makes like three legged horses and people disappearing into the ground but you have to look hard to find them.  

This tech is in its infancy. In 10 years we won’t be able to tell… or sooner. It is developing incredibly fast.

Who knows, maybe they will be able to program AI to fact check pics and footage for identifying markers that it's fake. I certainly hope there will be solutions to these issues.

This is a good idea.

It is also currently available. Here is example.

i presume this will also be expanded and more generally available in the future.
