Andromeda - Backyard Mosaic

I thought they were just being funny at first.

As someone who majored in Physics with a minor in Astronomy and a career in IT. Ill chime in.

Without trying to go too deep. Back in 1969. We deployed the LRRR on the moon. The Laser Ranging Retroreflector (LRRR). Its a set of reflectors on the moon that scientists use to measure the distance between Earth and the moon.

I've actually been at an Observatory that shot a laser AT the moon and got data back real time from the LRRR. Its repeatable too! Aside from the moon slightly drifting away each time you run the numbers.

A "Flat Earth" would require hundreds of global governments, universities, military's, ect to all be in the "know" but able to keep the secret. That is not possible. We would of known many moons ago if were living in an aquarium on some aliens desk.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm sure that bouncing acronyms off the moon and reading back the numbers gives consistent results, via some model. I'm not calling anyone a liar. It would be silly thing to spout off such absurdities, such as the the idea that the majority of the scientific community could be inadvertently perpetrating a constructed model of reality that in fact serves the propaganda and agenda of hidden interests, all the while believing that they're serving "truth" and are utterly convinced that they have "science" on their side. We're here to Deny Ignorance, after all.

Now, where did I put my tongue? Earlier today, I was pretty sure it was firmly in my cheek, but now I'm not so sure any more. Please enjoy this pleasant day!

Oh, please don't. They're beautiful and informative and well appreciated by everyone.

Hmm, should we have split off a new thread? I don't mean to stifle discussion.

I don't want my pictures to become a thread for debate.  They aren't meant to prove one thing or another. Just something nice to look at.

I'm just catching ATS vibes and not the good ones and that is nothing I want to contribute to here. That's all. I appreciate you and your reply.

I didn't think it was a debate. I appreciate astrophotography. It's art to me. Sorry I derailed that. I actually didn't expect a response and was mostly trying to post a picture of the Southern Hemisphere sky. And think it's cool how big these galaxies are in degrees across.

If you fly LAX to Dubai you overfly the North Pole. And there is a map thingy on the back of the seat in front of you that let's you watch the transpolar route in real time.

I did not think there were serious flat earth debates, honestly. Only "The Matrix" works. But even the matrix has a physics.

I think a bit of fun has migrated into a misunderstanding... I hope it settles well in the end.
