Orbital paths?
I heard about ley lines first in the 90's and it seemed kind of whacked to me, mostly becasue I had a beautifully crafted antique globe of the earth as a toy and could look for myself and explored it regularly.
NOW Mr Budgie's thread on easter island had me do a google image search on ley lines. I don't know if it's playing too much KSP, or watching rockets all the time, but they sure look allot like orbital paths.
ps. still seems whacky but since there are so many some might lead to something interesting

Edit Reason: spelling

I have always been interested in the concept of ley lines... alternately thinking they might be a reflection of ancient perceptions about magnetic or gravitational 'lines' of force. The idea has a long and diverse history as a concept...
I hope to learn more about them as we explore the topic...

The Old Straight Track by Alfred Watkins is the source of the term 'ley lines'.
I think it was how people got around back in the day. Lines of site with stones and landmarks.
It was town names ending in 'ley' that gave birth to his discovery.

Yes! This is a great topic.
In the early 1950s, Aime Michell noticed that some UFO sightings fell in straight lines when plotted on a map:
Quote:Michel published Mystérieux Objets Célestes in 1958, which covered the 1954 wave of UFOs in France. After the publication with help from Jacques Bergier, he devised a theory called Orthoténie [fr] (English: orthoteny) in a corner of a restaurant booth. Michel postulated so-called "alignments": straight lines that corresponded to large circles traced and centered on the earth. Michel claimed that UFO sightings could be clustered along these grid lines. He proposed, for example, that there was a line known as “BaVic,” pointing from Bayonne to Vichy, where, out of nine UFO observations cited in the press on 24 September 1954, six aligned (Bayonne, Lencouacq, Tulle, Ussel, Gelles, Vichy).
Then in 1958, abductee Buck Nelson wrote of UFOs travelling along "lines of force" in his account My Trip to Mars, the Moon, and Venus:
Quote:Another reason they come to my place, or rather this part of the country, is that the magnetic currents are just right here. (This is a section of the country where there are caves; it might mean something to a scientist).
The spacemen tell me that the places where the magnetic currents cross is comparable to a cross roads sign. These currents or lines of force are named and numbered. The moon has an effect on their travel also. I suppose that might be when they are near here, but really I don’t know. They didn’t tell me just how far the moons effects reach. Th technicalities and distances would not have meant much to me anyhow.
The whole situation gets bogged down in the question: What is a ley line? Are they lines indicating astronomical epidermises, like the path of the sun or its alignment to the moon? Or perhaps they are lines connecting various interesting geological features, or places and routes of human significance? Maybe some kind of spiritual highways, like the German idea of Geisterwege (' ghost roads')? Or, what I find fascinating -- a result of geological electromagnetic fields and telluric currents? Perhaps all of that!
The issue of causality also comes in to play. Do these lines exist because of the formations and significance of the points along them, or are those points influenced to be in that location along the lines by some deeper cohering force?
It's a great topic and I could chase rabbits here all day! Thanks for bringing it up!

One of the comments I read on ley lines going over easter island was that it only works if the line is 100km wide for other sites to fit. That doesn't seem like much of a distance when coming in from space, and you don't always want to come down right on top of something.

I watched a little content on these back in the day, and I recalled something about Stonehenge in this context. Apparently, it's an epicenter of earth-energy with as many fourteen ley lines converging on the site.
The ley lines are said to be powerful channels of energy that connect places of ancient and primordial significance all across the country.

Allot of things to digest here.
My initial thinking on the lines crossing was to look for orbital stations. It would be a good spot to be for maintenance reasons, but then I remembered stopping in space is kind of a problem. Or how would they move through space? Probably wasn't a problem looking at the size of the megaliths.

Here is a map showing:
- Easter Island Megaliths
- Bermuda Triangle
- South Atlantic Anomaly
- Algerian Megaliths
- Zimbabwe Megaliths
- Mohenjo Daro
- Wharton Basin
- Devil's Sea
- New Hebrides Trench
- Hamakulia
These are from Ivan Sanderson article "The Twelve Devil’s Graveyards Around the World" (1972).

I feel like some liberties was taken in that image. Need to sift out all the false trails then look towards space with what's left because the infrastructure will still be there.
The structures on earth was left unfinished, like abandoned. Something might have been left up there also, and we have 1000's of reports of people seeing things.

Yes I think you're right, and it might not be a matter of something in orbit stationary but rather a probability thing, where sightings are more likely along commonly travelled paths (for whatever reason) and their intersections. There is also patterns people see in where ancient pyramids were constructed that can be projected into orbital lines.
Edit here is interactive version of that Sanderson map you can zoom in on and see yes indeed some of it is aspirational haha
