Don't go looking...

I want to write this in archaic form and say something to the effect that Maxmars is the typical writer that may not fancy himself as such and exhibits much modesty in evaluating his works and abilities just to have his peers nudging him to the contrary.

Well... thank you, (I think.)

It's not lost on me that I am clumsily uncomfortable with praise.  I don't know if that's some form of narcissism... anyway, I hope not.

I don't reject the notion that I can express myself well at times.  But it's not like it's always.. and there are those who can do so with an ease and grace far beyond my ability to match.

But I do like writing (and better still, having written.)  And it really does please me when I create something that others enjoy.

I've never cared for accolades and such... it's a problem for me..., but I am very grateful for the kind words and sentiments... it does help me feel better about my attempts at creativity...

Yes, that's correct. It's just more kudos same as everyone else, albeit slightly obscured – you think? (but that's just me).

You obviously exhibit a substantial throughput on a daily basis here, and aside from your occasional blunders I'd say the quality is quite good. Conversely, I'm more the contemporary course of brevity and social media these days or a quick text message to yield a higher rate of turnover in smaller units which suits my time allotment for writing better as well.

When I was at the writing forums a lot of the published authors were always summarizing their "throughput" for the day mostly measured in k-words and you do seem to align with that sort of thing, and some(but not many) would also indulge in the shorter pieces like poetry, haikus, limericks, and other writing games, and when it came to those shorter pieces or games like that I could hang with the best of 'em –in my opinion (it's more my style).

Not to mention your reputation rating. Now that's just ridiculous, and I suppose speaks volumes all by itself.

You most certainly can do more than hold your own!  And 'brevity' is an ideal I do pursue... with very limited success.  But such is life, I'm done fretting over it.

I'm dubious of the reputation metrics as honor-worthy...
Most of that can be characterized as 'if you swing at the nail more times, you'll hit it more times.'
I swing at that nail a lot.

I'm fairly certain that the metric isn't really anything of special value outside of reflecting participation in dialog.
I like it here... so I participate... it helps me feel much less lonely.
