Evil show!
Golly gee this a fine day I say,
Beaver, it's 7:30am and breakfast is served.

Golly Gee mother I thank you,
Mmm this fried pork is mighty fine today.

Ward dear, you are going to be late for work,
Oh my dear June did you pour me my morning coffee.

Ward, don't be silly my dear love,
Have I ever missed your coffee.

Wally dear son it is time for me to fix your hair,
I want you looking sharp as an axe for school.

Golly Gee mother I am 16,
Son you boys will be boys,

Eddie walkes in "Good morning Mrs. Cleaver,"
Eddie "would you like some pie."

Sure Mrs Cleaver you are so kind,
Oh Eddie you are the nicest boy around,

As the boys walk to school, Eddie flattens all the cars tires...

If The Waterboy grew up with "Foosball is the devil!" I grew up with "50s TV Families are the devil!"

June Clever was an example of subservience and misogynistic values used by TV propaganda to brainwash and perpetuate male dominant culture.

Honeymooners too. For no woman should ever be threatened to be struck hard enough to achieve exit velocity for not fulfilling her slave role.

The timer is supposed to have the coffee ready, and there would never be pie baked for fhe neighbors, or even the family.

Mother says, "Make your own damn pie, and don't talk to me until I've had my coffee."

So I never actually watched the show, only heard of its damage, but when Married With Children was on, it was forbidden for being a "latent example of sexist 1950s values and horrible role models."

Didn't imprint AT ALL.

No I actually bought it in Guadalajara! That’s my electric “get to know the neighbours” guitar! Ha! I have a good set of headphones now…

I agree with you! Leave it to beaver was evil and degrading! My mom used to make me watch reruns when I lied and stayed home from school saying I was sick.

I wanted to watch BJ and the Bear! lol

It looks nice. I have an old Gibson my dad gave me. It’s from before I was born 1969 it was made!

Sounds amazing! It has age cracks!

Also note the symbolism of the name "Ward Cleaver".

The father as the patriarchal protector, "Warding" the family.

His moral authority carried in the family name "Cleaver" -- dividing good and evil, right and wrong.

Daddy knows best.

And just to add, this would make a fun thread: all the hidden symbolism in those old TV shows. And not all of it's stodgy patriarchal stuff. For example, "I Dream of Jeannie" is obviously a transsexual metaphor, about an "astronaut" who dreams of travelling to the moon, with a scantily-clad and attractive woman who only comes out when he's alone, who no one else can see, and who is able to grant him magical wishes....

There is a lot of craziness going on in this show! You are right!
