Caught me off gaurd when it happened first time.

i’ve come to like it.  Makes making updates to post easy until next person posts.

If I remember correctly, the feature's default merging time is 60 minutes. I believe it can be varied, so that two posts in a short time span are merged. After the alloted time expires, then new posts appear standalone.

And, as TSK has done, the feature can be deactivated entirely.

I believe you get an alert whenever you participate in any thread. You are automatically subscribed to it.

I was also thinking that the thread creator might have elevated alert status over participator status alone which is the case here, but who knows.
