Hurricane Helene FEMA and the weak Federal response

Watchdog found $7B in untapped FEMA funds — even though DHS Secretary Mayorkas said none available for future disasters (nypost.com)

also pointed out in this story of "found billions"

So out of the 7 billion that was discovered just hanging out somewhere, of which none has been used, only 4 million has been handed out to help in this crisis due to lack of funds. Then FEMA wants to cry about being colored as the bad guy here.

It irks the hell out of me, FEMA should be like an insurance company when a disaster hits, a claimant should need just an address and pictures and they get a check representative of their home's location and tax code and damage assessment.

Instead, the public is flooded with complicated paperwork and delays even when and if they are approved. The attitude in Appalachia is either for FEMA to really help with meaningful funds or supplies or get the feck out of the way.

Watching those military helicopters fly low dust-up that independent recovery and supply area, damn sure seemed intentional.

Much like during Katrina, too many people are saying the exact same thing for it not to be occurring on some levels

This lady has been working nonstop helping the victims since the hurricane hit and this was her response when asked what is her best summary to tell America about what’s happening here.: “America the ONLY person that’s been here from the State of North Carolina has been Mark Robinson, everywhere else we’ve turn… every organizations shutting us down… They’re putting chains on our supplies. They’re stopping our pilots. This is ALL citizens done… FEMA has NEVER shown their faces to us. We got NO funds… We flew over 400 flights yesterday and the pilots paid for the gas themselves… Mark is the ONLY one that has stood by the State of North Carolina.” Everyone in NC must Vote
@markrobinsonNC
for NC next Governor. Thank you Sir for all you’re doing for the victims of Hurricane Helene

They would let people who lost everything take showers because "they had no personal shower slippers" yeah that sounds like governmental bureaucracy at it's finest does it not?

If even half of this is true...

Another example...of FEMA at work, when you are preferred FEMA vendor you send whatever you can, perhaps it's 3 pallets of electric chainsaws NOBODY is buying, but you can get a government tax credit or FEMA check at full price

FEMA had some landfills locked. DeSantis had sherrifs rip the gates open so they could get the debris in.

fema really going insane.

edit to add.

now they are sending electric chainsaws to cities with no power. Not the bEE

the climate cult is insane.

The original poster said his community in Little Switzerland, North Carolina, received these chainsaws from a U.S. Army Chinook helicopter ... and that it has been the only government assistance their community has received.

Here's the X.com thread about the helicopter seemingly disrupting independent recovery efforts by flying low and subjecting the recovery area to fairly heavy rotor wash for no apparent reason.

It was first traced to the Connecticut National Guard but they are saying it was the NC Guard, so we have the Guard investigating the Guard. Hope Im wrong but how many days will it take to track this pilot down for his side of the story.

But as the thread alludes too, if true that's not how FEMA or the GUard is supposed to operate and integrate with local authorities.

In successful and organized recovery efforts basically, everything is run through local officials people who know the area and the people. This is particularly crucial in the mountain areas of NC

NC National Guard

@NCNationalGuard

=#ffffffWhile attempting to land, rotor wash caused items to blow away from the local distribution set up by a group of civilians in the area. The crew immediately identified the situation, aborted the landing for safety reasons, and departed the area.NC National Guard

This incident is currently under investigation and the crew has been grounded until the investigation is complete. The NCNG is working with the identified local civilian organization to assess the level of damage caused by the rotor wash.
Safety is the NCNG’s number one priority, especially with the high volume of air operations currently happening across the region. While the NCNG strives for precision in every mission, sometimes things don’t go as planned.

When that happens, the NCNG takes it very seriously and are committed to addressing and correcting any issues to prevent future occurrences.

Yeah I apologize I didn't see that and not trying to steal your thunder, I kind of dropped out of that thread when it drifted to this is like China or Russia, which it is kind of but not the issue at hand IMHO

P6,
First off, excellent thread and I absolutely endorse almost everything you've stated 100%.  The federal government has lost its collective mind, and the notion that FEMA is blocking ANY sort of relief efforts is categorically unacceptable and egregious in the highest degree!  Those responsible for blocking state, local and independent relief efforts should be JAILED!  Period!

One caution I would offer though...in one of your threads above you posted a video from a youtoober known as Wranglerstar.  Just know, that dude is crazy and full of all sorts of wild crazy bullshit.  And when I say "crazy", I mean he seems like he has some real psychological issues (stuff like promoting eating charcoal, and other nutty stuff like electrically grounding himself because aliens and the government are trying to get inside his head, real tinfoil hat stuff!).  I say this only because I don't want to see you lose traction with your excellent thread.

It is like what this intelligent and concerned young woman articulated the situation on the ground in Western NC than anybody so far says, look FEMA is helping in some areas but in others they have had to come together on thier own. Thats just reality. Watch the video she says 163 school-age kids are unaccounted for from the Spruce Pines area alone...even more under the age of 5. That will keep me up for a while.

As for the video, I was just trying to pump out how the mistakes seem to be adding up, FWIW the story is true the Helicopter flown by the National Guard pilot buzzed the independent recovery area. It was the first video I pulled up looking rotor wash NC, but Ive pulled it for a Charlotte News Station story on the same subject.

Hard to bust the guy for his side hustle, remember when the left criticized the Drudge Report and then bought him out a few years later? ABS says whatever it wants to and advertises pharmaceuticals and other products I find questionable.

Remember when ABC News New York scuttled the Epstein story?

sometimes I would rather link to an independent source than a network source.

Besides Im not here to change minds, LOL my daughters are liberal as AF and I still love the hell out of them, and they have mellowed a bit since approaching 30. I wouldn't even try to change their minds, I realize everybody learns at thier own pace.

ironically it's the opposite, Im saying here is what I am seeing and hearing, and here are my thoughts, I want to hear everybody else's thoughts because I may have missed something pertinent to the thread.

I like hearing all sides of an argument...
