dystopia
#1
So my fave comics arent superhero things, I have always been into dystopia. I guess that all started when I was a kid and started reading 2000AD full of stories about Judge Dredd MegaCity1 and the cursed earth, Flesh...about futuristic cowboys who went back to wrangle dinosaurs for food production. Invasion about a race called the Volgons, who wore russian helmets and sounded russian, invading the UK and Nuking the big cities. Rogue trooper about a genetically modified super soldier fighting through a planetary wasteland in some never ending apocalyptic war  and tons of others.

Recently trhough I stumbled across something newer that reminded me so much of the best of the old Dredd stories. Transmetropolitan its about a sort of gonzo journalist trying to fight back against the corrupt elites keeping the people down in this futuristic, cyberpunky sort of city. Its free now if you have kindle unlimited, give it a go.

I will look for this too... do they publish on paper (my favorite medium for most graphic content?)

"Dystopia" is a very interesting concept to me... I note that often what is normal to one culture (or society) is basely dystopian to another (and usually vice-versa.)

"Utopian" to some is frequently "dystopian" to others.

I suppose it's one of those subjective things isn't it?
I recently found out that people in the UK pay a TV licence, i think, for watching over the air BBC. That sounds dystopian like to me.

I found Transmetropolitan 1 on ebay, ill get it when i have some spare cash.

Just finished Tansmetropolitan Book One and i enjoyed it very much.
I can see the Dredd type of feel to it (need to read more of those) and it also reminds me of RoboCop with its humor and advertisements.

I love Spiders crankiness at everything and also how everyone has to survive just being around him because he is so unpredictable.
I can't wait to get into Book Two.

Why, I was just reading this thread yesterday, and here it pops up again!

Kismet.

I had a new color ereader.  Perhaps this would be a good read for it.

Thanks!
