Oldest Known Civilizations in HistoryVideo - Maxmars - 05-22-2024 I found the video introduced in the source to be very good. But since I don't even rate the title of "amateur" archeologists, I thought I'd share it to see if anyone agrees. I appreciate that finally I found someone who produced a list that didn't exclude all those civilizations that weren't in or around the middle east... that always kind of rubs me the wrong way. I still believe there are some that were overlooked... but this one pleased me more than most monetized video fodder of its kind... From Ancient-Origins.net: Oldest Known Civilizations in History (Video) RE: Oldest Known Civilizations in HistoryVideo - 727Sky - 05-22-2024 Belize seems to have some recently found pyramids that can be 20,000 years old and there are places in south America guesstimated to be much older... Interesting if found to be a good date. Much we do not know about what came before IMO Skip to 48:25 about the pyramids RE: Oldest Known Civilizations in HistoryVideo - Chiefsmom - 05-22-2024 Still love the Ancient Origins site, glad it is still up and running. Thanks for sharing the video. Decent, but definitely left some important places out. Those are known *culture*... but they don't meet the test of what a civilization is. And considerably more's known about them than the video suggests. Having seen the video (I put it on fast forward) it's... okay. They do mention some of the larger groups but mix in cultures with civilizations and completely ignore what's happening in China and other places that could be mentioned. They present it all without good references to siting the areas in time (using those seconds to make "funny remarks" instead of opting for education) - it would be lots clearer if they sectioned it off by time. ...and picky me can figure other ways that they might have made it a better piece. HOWEVER, that's just a "Listverse" video and they'll hook up things without making full context. I might show it to a high school class or a middle school class as an introduction but I wouldn't show it to a college class on history. |
