Temple OS, connect to a legacy god - BeTheGoddess - 01-21-2024

I encountered Temple OS from a fellow dev a couple of years back. The catchcry was that this OS could talk to god... no really.
Quote:"The system was characterized as a modern x86-64 Commodore 64, using an interface similar to a mixture of DOS and Turbo C. Davis proclaimed that the system's features, such as its 640x480 resolution, 16-color display, and single-voice audio, were designed according to explicit instructions from God.[sup][1]"[/sup]

[sup]further...[/sup]
Quote:In mid-2013, his website announced: "God's temple is finished. Now, God kills CIA until it spreads [sic]."[sup][6][/sup] Davis died after being hit by a train on August 11, 2018.[sup][7][/sup]

I shoved it in a VM for shivers and gaggles, but it didnt open up a dialogue between me and god. I didnt expect it to tho.[/sup]

Terry was a legend. Did you know he invented the term "glowie"?

Temple OS was a programming feat for the ages... a one-man engineered operating system...

It's a shame that his life was cut short, who knows what he might have built if he had lived.

But you placed this in Psychology, Philosophy & Metaphysics for a reason....

Mind sharing it with us?

Oh I was just looking to bump old threads in an attempt to get the hell away from election stuff and because I was totally depressed and maudlin last night. Seemed a shame that this topic didn't get more attention due to inherent epicness and the reasons you mentioned!

"The Ghost In The Machine" is a great topic! Cybernetics as causal amplifiers... The hand of God always one step ahead of all combinatorial complexity...

"The Ghost In The Machine" I have heard rumors of a machine noise  Puzzled

It's a reference to a philosophy book that isn't really about cybernetics, but has a great title that was used in a 90s sci-fi movie about a guy named Terry who stops a crazy guy who has been uploaded inside a computer. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107009/

It's become a trope about machines acting as spiritual gateways, like TempleOS.

It is an interesting idea though. Yesterday for example I was writing a little rant, as I do, and several paragraphs in my typing slipped and I hit some key combination that managed to select about three sentences of text, delete them, and clear the clipboard and undo buffer. Not sure what happened. Anyway I decided, "meh, maybe that somehow wasn't meant to be said", and just ended the rant there. Gave room for "The Ghost in the Machine". The idea of an operating system built to actually maximize and amplify this effect is intriguing, I think that's what Terry was after.
