Requiem '99 - CCoburn - 11-07-2024

Requiem '99

Spin the winds
to win the rain
of things
that are remembered
that will never
be the same

Dance with me
my dear
dance with me
this dance of death

I waited
for so long
to be enchanted
with you

My slumbered soul
without a breath
now torn the memories
all recanted

Spin around my lovely
in death forever granted
these broken roots
now firmly planted

Spin around and break my arm,
I promise you he won’t give a darn…

Hobble in another yard,
Gobble up that silly guard…

Hop-a-long to another place
This limp I have sure kills my pace

I miss a step and down I fall
I guess now I'll just have to crawl

She saw you dancing on the stone,
He changed his ways gave up his throne,

The stars watch you when you sleep,
In times of trouble we stand deep…

Greener pastures on the other side
what the hell, let's go for a ride

Up and onward to a galaxy of plenty
If only for rocket-fuel you could spare a twenty

On his way for a long covered nights stay,
She kissed and licked his grin away,

Turning from his music he called rain,
His soul surfs on the dark side of pain,

And when came the morning as the dawn broke
Lurking outside was a big ol' bloke

Trembling in fear he turned to his mate
As the bear was approaching to render his fate

The jingling of juggling in times of trouble,
This approaching fear caused him to lose his bubble,

The sun rises as the son falls,
Death lies closer between the walls,

His girl rifled the gear and grabbed the mace
and nailed that bear right square in the face

While the fire never rose and is nearly still
But always looks like it has and will

And of death that parallels pods to a pea
Like a drop of water in an endless sea

(I was thinking about the movie Backcountry for some of this – it's really good!!)
