Roads Of Time… - Quantum12 - 10-23-2024

This one is mine to tackle from years past,
Closing my eyes to this highway from you.
I lifted the brake of time off my shoulder,
She is deep but her road is smooth.
The last time I saw her I failed to release the pedal,
Now I am on the loose and no one can stop this ride.
The road is a smog barroom with drinks all around,
They tease my silly nature over a shot of whisky.
As I let go the highway seeps my tears away,
We are here now in life and on the roads of time

Is that Lake Tahoe, somewhere just past Ketamine? Looks familiar.
Your poem remind me of that feeling I get when I've been driving too long too many days in a row, and it feels like the car is standing still and spinning the Earth beneath the wheels. Everything is the hum of the road then the eyes judder trying to grasp on to anything but it is too smooth, too smooth. That is when I roll the window down to get some wind on my face.
