Seasons in the Sun - CCoburn - 09-20-2024 Seasons in the Sun He appeared so happy and full of life Reciting bad news like a vibrant television anchor woman even though something inside was very dark, growing and spreading These are the times when the cure may be worse than the cause A curse oblivious any context regarding the lesser of two evils; neither any path of least resistance All is only a matter of time anyway, of varying duration with an added dimension of location This was the time of descent to unknown, the feeling, and the experience, to just let it all go Although maybe not so much going as returning, from a place absent time, only to be sprung back, anew Forgotten was all of the muck that he had to crawl through, and it really won't be so bad, not knowing RE: Seasons in the Sun - UltraBudgie - 09-20-2024 This is quite beautiful and poignent, thank you. Everything dies, everything blossoms again; eternally runs the year of being. Everything breaks, everything is joined anew; eternally the same house of being is built. Everything parts, everything greets every other thing again; eternally the ring of being remains faithful to itself. In every now, being begins; round every here rolls the sphere there. The center is everywhere; bent is the path of eternity. ― Friedrich Nietzsche RE: Seasons in the Sun - FlyingClayDisk - 09-21-2024 Sorry, but seasons in the sun has to be about the most depressing song ever recorded. The first time I ever heard it was in 1974 when it was released. I was just a kid. I didn't know what the song was about, but I liked the melody (the first time I heard it). Then it got stuck in my head, as songs sometimes do, so I decided to listen more carefully to the lyrics. OMG, I wanted to go jump off a bridge! Worse, I couldn't get the..."We had joy, we had fun; we had seasons in the sun"...out of my brain. It drove me crazy! Ever after that, as soon as the song would come on the radio, I'd trip over myself to get to the radio and change the station so that damn song wouldn't get stuck in my head again. Please...GAWD...NOOOoooo!! Anything but that!! "You've got another thing comin'!"...(thump, thump, thump)..."Another one bites the dust!"..."Dude looks like a lady!"....ANY-THING!! I know, I know, but sometimes the most depressing song ever recorded just happens to be a good fit for an internet post. I've pretty much evolved through all the ecstasy garnered via new ears and the great musical explosion of the 70s to I need some new music now because I've worn out all of the old stuff because it's so easily accessible. Sometimes these things just arbitrarily fall into place, and they do capture moments in time that might be a little newer (and less distressing (in a humorous way)) for someone else. |
