"WhatEver!!" - FlyingClayDisk - 07-19-2024 This is pretty much what the left leaning liberals have resorted to..."WHATEVER!"...and waving their hand in front of your face. "WHAT-EVER!!" "Don't care...whatever!" "Not listening...whatever!!" "Really, DUDE...it doesn't matter..WHATEVER!!" People will willingly throw themselves down a hole, just to trip up the candidate Trump. They don't even care, if their life is worse...they HATE him THAT much. Fine!! Elect the "OTHER" guy...without KILLING his opponent...PLEASE!. Do it FAIRLY, and do it on you're OWN Can you imagine, even for ONE moment how some of us "conservatives" feel????? You almost "celebrated" Trump being shot, AND you were disappointed it wasn't worse. Can you not see how CRAZY this mentality is??? Anyone who supports this mentality has lost their minds! I don't even care if it would have been Biden...it's WRONG!!!!!!!! I want NO candidate to die...and some of you,, don't lie, think the opposite!! DOOM on you~!~ You know who you are. DOOM...on YOU! RE: "WhatEver!!" - ArMaP - 07-19-2024 Some people have become so fixated on their own points of view that they do not care about anything else or what methods are used as long as their point of view is the one that wins (or appears to win, as that's enough for some people). An assassination attempt of any candidate for any election is always a loss for society, even if, like in this case, the assassination fails, because it shows that some people find it better to use violence than peaceful elections. It's a loss because it shows that, somewhere along the way, society is failing to make people see how things should work (different sides presenting their ideas for discussion, the people choosing those they think will be better for the job, etc) and that violence should never be the answer in politics, even for those that do not like politics. It's also a loss for society because it shows that people are losing their natural empathy with other human beings (unless they are psychopaths and do not have any empathy) and do not care about it, and one of the reasons this happens is because of the growing tendency of making political adversaries into enemies in the eyes of the followers, acting as if "the other side(s)" is not really made with human beings with the same natural needs and desires. Agreed. Thank you. RE: "WhatEver!!" - Maxmars - 07-19-2024 I think that this bizarre reality is a function of how the media and political parties embarked on a 'partnership' for a partisan cause... and felt completely free, and fully empowered to use the very worst propaganda techniques, and even embraced the concept of the "sacred lie" as long as the opposition is notionally diminished in their eyes. Someone in the mix of those two player teams promulgated an idea that maligning and damning an "opponent' by any means (and to any degree possible) was somehow a "solution" to the hateful fact that not everyone agrees with them (and their 'clearly' unquestionable partisan wisdom.) They spend the better part of an entire decade indoctrinating the youngest generation about "how they should feel" and how they must "be." There have been similar efforts to "promote" acceptable political ideology in the past everywhere politicians "pay" for media 'support'... but not by reason, not by persuasive argument, but instead by a non-stop blatant campaign to characterize "those other people." And if those "other people" should support someone with whom they bear a grudge, they should elicit notions of everything from a "failing country" to "the end of the world." It's marketing. Elevated to the level of mental illness. An entire generation of citizens has known nothing other than the 'narrative" they have spent countless millions to establish at the "truth." As it stands now, there are people who become emotionally agitated the moment they merely hear the name of someone who represents an opposing view. It's not about the opposing view at all, its about the 'hating'' of the 'bad person." They will automatically accept any bad words about him (or her, for that matter) as coming from a good, reliable, and respect-worthy source. They will come to love the hate... and when in the right group, or the right setting, that hatred becomes even more fulfilling... 'They' absolutely "have" come to love the hate. They thrive on it. It is their living, breathing, REQUIREMENT to survive. It is their bank account, and their life's breath. Whether the MSM feeding people non-stop propaganda, or just the average 'Joe'; HATE is the order of the day!! That, my good sir, is both dangerous and seriously unhealthy. On a side note, I blame much of this on social media. Not places like here on DI, but places where 240+/- characters are the limit to what one can say. It's sad, and it's disturbing. In some ways, it makes me ashamed to be a human (today)... but it won't change soon. It won't change by "banning" anything; it will only change when people wake up and realize that they are what they throw out there, what they "spew" out there. There is a difference between legal action and moral behavior. What I speak of is moral behavior; legal won't fix it. RE: "WhatEver!!" - ArMaP - 07-20-2024 Personally, this is not unexpected to me, and not just because of what has happened in the last 10 or 12 years. Since I remember seeing the media talking about US elections (probably since Jimmy Carter's election, as before that I was too young and the Portuguese censorship didn't like to allow news about external politics), one thing I noticed was how much they would try to make the other side look bad instead of trying to show that they were better. A couple of years latter some parties tried that method in Portugal, but it backfired, as the voters didn't like idea of bad-mouthing others instead of pointing their own positives. The "Facebook syndrome" that makes people think that one "like" means they cannot be wrong only made things worse. |
