Meet J.D. Vance the republican V.P. choice - 727Sky - 07-17-2024 I found this story about J.D. to be inspirational is many different ways. If Trump wins and survives for 4 years that would then be 2028 ... J.D. runs and then gets elected twice that would give America 12 years to try to fix all problems the current administration has enacted; not sure 12 years is enough time ?? RE: Meet J.D. Vance the republican V.P. choice - Lysergic - 07-17-2024 Seems like your avg /pol/tard Will we flood us with Pajeets, only time will tell. RE: Meet J.D. Vance the republican V.P. choice - argentus - 07-17-2024 Vance did the legwork and earned a BA in Political Science and Philosophy. Summa Cum Laude no less. He then did the legwork at Yale Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree. Private practice, venture capitalism, acclaimed author. He's no dummy, and quite well rounded. Both he and Trump are way too far right for me, however there are caveats: 1) Both he and Trump believe that abortion rights should be determined by the individual states, not the Federal government; both support the availability of the abortion pill. 2) Vance expresses that he doesn't personally support gay marriage, however also doesn't want it to become politicized. He expressed a desire for equality in the eyes of the law for everyone. As I said, waaay too far right for me, but............. looking at the other side? What a train wreck. You cannot legislate innovation. Someday, if we all don't blow ourselves up, we'll develop better and better EVs and battery systems and God willing transition coal and oil workers to something different. But......... we're far from there now. Really far. California's lofty goals for EVs is not even remotely within reach. They literally cannot build the plants to support their legislated goals in time to meet them. It has killed their economy as big, medium and small businesses have left for more enlightened parts of the country. You can't mandate that all fast food workers' minimum wage is $20 per hour and not expect that francises will close. Stupid. You look at a view of downtown San Francisco, Los Angeles (that's a bit of a misnomer, because "downtown" L.A. hasn't been the heart of commerce for several decades), San Diego, Berkeley, they're all ghost towns. Even last week where there was a three day employment symposium at S.F.'s Moscone Center, there was a dismal turnout and sad worth of the whole thing. Good try, everybody. I think it's a good think to have Trump/Vance get the country back on track. Get the economy back where it was before Biden signed his 60 executive action/orders (which he did in the FIRST day of office). Get everyone working on the same page, toward their own prosperity, and not geared toward fighting everyone who holds a different opinion that theirs. WTF has happened??? Remember way back when, when we could actually disagree without feeling the need to kill someone, or cancel them, or silence them? Your opinion is your own, you own it. It is not for sale. I remember in the 80's when the KKK applied for and were granted a permit to peaceably assemble near Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. I find these loathsome people abhorrent, but supported their Constitutional right to assemble. I was disappointed in the people, some who didn't understand and got themselves arrested by throwing bottles, screaming threats. Those rights, the expression of opinions most ugly, and the most important ones to protect. I think the left has forgotten what Democracy means. It seems like lately, it means for them to quash the opinions of those who disagree. Listen, we will ALWAYS disagree. All of us. THAT'S the STUFF that MAKES us WHOLE!! We have to talk it out. All of it, and the way forward, imo, is via a government that doesn't want to supress the views of the opposition. I just purchased several thousand dollars worth of batteries for our renewable energy system -- both solar and wind. It is our third set of batteries. It works on a very local level, if a person has the time and desire to fiddle with it all the time. It will get better. Same goes for the EVs. It will improve, and someday we will have mostly EVs, and the trucks that supply the nations will be EVs. It is pure folly to try to force truck driver/owners to convert to EV trucks without any support. What, are they supposed to leapfrog the trucks like the pony express? When all this is a good deal, you won't have to force or leverage people into things; they will flock to it. You cannot legislate innovation. So, much as it pains me, I support the Trump/Vance ticket. Vance is too green for a VP, however considerably smarter than some of the 'seasoned' ones we've had in the past. JMFHO. RE: Meet J.D.
