Why do we even assume aliens will see in our visible light spectrum?

Birds and cuttlefish for example see in different frequencies. Something truly alien might see in even more diverse spectrums.

Quote:Science : Angry cuttlefish see one another in a different light

…cuttlefish seem to communicate with each other using patterns of polarised light reflected from their bodies.

Light consists of electromagnetic waves that can be oriented in any plane.
Light that is unpolarised contains waves of all orientations, but the light
reflected or transmitted by some objects is dominated by waves of a particular
alignment.

How do you distinguish between LED light and plasma light? What are the differences?

Plasma lights up in a more diffuse and natural fashion. Usually the power for those in a man made context is in the RF spectrum. In nature they occur when gases ignite.  Remind the glow of old street lights?
LED light is a more harsh and less natural light, in the higher frequencies of the visible spectrum?
Think lightning versus stadium lanterns.

'Alien' craft are said to use alternative energy which releases lighting and plasma as a side effect , like the edges of the discs said to be glowing.  They don't usually have lights on themselves, as reported by witnesses.  supposedly.

I understand what you mean, but you have some wrong things in your post.

- All light is in the electromagnetic spectrum, the RF spectrum is only radio, not visible light, and has a lower frequency.
- Higher frequencies give a different colour, the highest frequency in visible light is violet, the lowest is red.

What I think you are saying is that artificial light, specially LEDs, have less frequencies, so they have less colours mixed, giving a more harsh light, while natural light has more frequencies (more tones) and result in a more smooth light.

Note  I never said the light for more 'natural ' 'alien' UFOs was in the RF spectrum. I meant it was probably/ could be powered in the RF spectrum, yes in a more 'holistic' full spectrum way, Like these plasma lights:

I am aware of how the EM spectrum works, so I apologise if I was not clear.

I am not saying that artificial light is necessarily harsher.  I am saying that LED light in particular is harsher.  And most 'true' UFOs do not exhibit such harsh characteristics.  Even when the light is as bright as the sun.
