The .223 which can be fired out of a 5.56 NATO chambering is on the lower end (probably down around 2,700-2,800fps). The main difference between the NATO round and the .223 is a harder primer and a hotter load. There are some faster, but not by much. A .270 Weatherby Mag has a muzzle velocity of around 3,600 FPS, and the .22-250 and 220 Swift both have velocities of 4,000 FPS. I reload all of these rounds so I'm pretty familiar with the ballistics. At 1/8,000th of a second shutter speed, a 4,000 FPS bullet would travel half a feet, right? The point of a forums based site that built itself on conspiracy and the like is to ask questions and not accept the narrative. So it stands to reason people on that site are asking question as you should to. It's easy to let emotions go wild during trying times, it's hard to stay cool headed. Just look at post 9\11 and the patriot act. RE: Trump shot? - Karl12 - 07-14-2024 (07-13-2024, 10:01 PM)l0st Wrote: YUP. Good point mate and definitely a real time historical event. Trump got shot, clipped in his right ear, shooter killed by sniper (assuming secret service) at rally. 22yr old kid used his fathers rifle, kid is registered republican. The shooter was seen & pointed out to police by rally attendee yet apparently that info wasn't acted on fast enough. 2 other attendee's wounded, 3rd killed while using his body as a shield for his wife & child. During the last presidential campaign I worked in a private residence ajacent to the Butler County airport. The perimeter then was MUCH larger than yesterdays. In fact the home I was working in was within that perimeter. While everything will be a dumpsterfire of finger pointing this is clearly a Secret Service Eff-up of astronomical proportions. From downsizing the secure area necessary, to NOT getting Trump off the stage & safe in any kind of expedient manner. Buttler County is firmly Trump centric, shops that sell Trump items never closed during Bidens presidency, no one took their pro Trump signs down. Something the Secret Service got lax about. Trump "should have" been safe. Everything else is secondary to the Secret Service's epic fail. Whether the sloppiness was orchestrated from the head of the SS or elsewhere in the chain of personnel is yet to be determined. There are those around the world who could make a discrete shot from 300 meters to nick an ear; I have known a couple of them. That notion -- that it was a "staged" event is ridiculous, and I'll tell you why. 1) Even those skilled marksmen who could make that shot, even the best of the best, the elite, could not be trusted by the recipient to not jog just a little. It is one thing to place shots at a dead rest within the space of a quarter on target . It is an entirely other thing to bet your life that it can be done. 2) Think of how close the ear is to the head. A momentary puff of air, or any perturbation of the variables that surround the perfect shot, and everything changes. THAT is for a unique sniper rifle in the hands of a uniquely trained specialist. NOT an "AR-15 style" rifle. It's a good rifle. Not a sniper rifle. 3) Most importantly, Mr. Trump was addressing the crowd. The shooter was at his 2:00 or 3:00, or thereabouts. At the critical moment, Mr. Trump turned his head to the right, such that a broadside shot became a shot parallel to his head, and instead of punching into his brain, it clipped his ear. I have watched the moment in slow motion countless times, and I am convinced that if he hadn't turned his head at that exact moment and looked to the right, he would be dead right now. Obviously, there is no way to orchestrate this level of event. An aside: The images of the bloodied, defiant, fist-shaking Trump as he was moved to the SUV will have already won him the election, if it was ever in question. Love him or hate him, (and I'm truthfully somewhere in between, but still on the side of respecting him) that is an image of a mean little asskicker that we want leading the nation. RE: Trump shot? - KKLoco - 07-14-2024 There’s a big fat elephant in the room: Black Rock you say….. Are you fucking kidding me?!?! We going down this rabbit hole here? Because I can’t participate on ATS. I watched this live as it happened yesterday. Actually tuned in at 5pm (original start time). It didn’t end up starting for an hour later. I am not lying when I say this, before it started, I looked at the venue and said to myself ‘What the hell! This doesn’t look safe for Trump, at all. Am I going to watch an assassination attempt today?” BOOM! One hour later IT HAPPENED! I did not want to be a prophet on this…… Then there is this. Skip to the 10:50 mark. Yes, it’s a religious prophecy. AND it’s dead on, posted 4 months ago today on YouTube. I’m not religious. However, I find it uncanny. I might be tuning into that dude now, even though I find the evangelical nature behind it nauseating. Hopefully, that dude isn’t right about everything. Because at the 12 minute mark, he states that in 2025, we have an economic collapse. And go into a worse depression than the 1930’s…… RE: Trump shot? - TheRedneck - 07-14-2024 I've been watching this since it happened. The local news doesn't update much on weekends, so I have switched back to MSM... combination of Fox, CNN, and NewsNation in an attempt to find that happy medium where truth resides. Here's my take: First, the guy was a sharpshooter. I originally said, this guy is either ex-military, law enforcement, or possibly self-trained. Turns out he was 20 years old and too young to be ex-military or law enforcement. That left self-trained, and the fact he was wearing a t-shirt from an online arms dealer sorta verifies the self-trained theory. He was a "gun nut." Turns out, he was also a loner. Bullied at school. Sound familiar? He lived with his parents in a blue-collar suburb of Pittsburgh, 20 miles away. Name was Thomas Matthew Crooks. He was registered as a Republican, but I don't think this was really political. I figure he probably registered that way because his folks were Republicans. That happens a lot. But he also sent a $15 donation to a "progressive PAC" in January of 2021. That tells me he wasn't really political. The gun was an AR-15, .223 caliber (5.56 NATO), a very common round that most AR-15s come in. That's a high-powered .22 and a pretty lethal round. It's perfect for a sniper round as it has a long, flat trajectory and some serious muzzle energy. Many rounds are also full metal jacket and will tumble when they hit bone; the semi-jacketed rounds are also pretty good at mushrooming on impact. I called the round last night well before the gun was identified. I say he was a sharpshooter because he almost made a deadly hit. His aim was true, even from 130+ yards. That bullet was going to hit Trump dead in the right temple, and that's an immediate kill. Think of JFK... Trump's brains would have been all over that stage. But, just as the trigger was pulled, Trump turned his head to the right and cocked it to the left. Instead of hitting his temple, the bullet flew right past his head and cut his upper right ear. That's a sharpshooter, not some kid who likes to shoot guns. This dude was good! Once Trump felt/heard the bullet, he put his hand up to his ear, saw the blood, and dropped. The shooter kept firing, hitting at least three other people. One died at the scene; the other two were injured but survived (for now). Secret Service was there almost immediately, forming a human shield until the shooter could be neutralized. Good job by the agents. Here's where things get wonky: Crooks was seen by guests climbing onto the roof. Those guests alerted Secret Service. One policeman saw the shooter on the roof and confronted him... the shooter pointed the rifle at the cop and the cop left the roof. I heard one witness estimate it was 3 or 4 minutes between climbing the ladder and the shots... that's a fast setup! It shows single-mindedness. There were apparently obstacles on the roof that Crooks hid behind. Now, I would think that if someone mentioned to the Secret Service that they saw an armed man climbing onto a roof, there would e a few things happen almost immediately: snipers trained on the roof to see him, Trump interrupted and shielded, and a fast investigation of that roof. But the guy had time to set up and fire what? 8 rounds I heard? at a pace that allowed that first bullet to be on the money. Also, why was that roof not being supervised? 130+ yards is not an easy shot, but it is well within possibility for an experienced shooter. Someone should have been watching that roof! Here's what I think: I think crooks was a loner with a lot of anger. He was approached by someone to kill Trump and assured that the Secret Service was in on the deal. Someone cased out that roof and made sure that security was not monitoring it. Crooks took his father's AR-15, scaled the roof, and fired. Secret Service at the time was trying to figure out how to cover that roof without compromising security (another indication that the security was planned out to keep that roof open). Once thee shots were fired, the snipers took him out. The plan failed; Trump is alive. But now, get ready for the call to ban firearms. Biden already hinted at that in his first presser after the assassination attempt. I also doubt that whoever concocted this event will try again. It seems we are no longer in a country where elections are for sale to the highest bidder; now, elections are by attrition instead of vote. God help us all. TheRedneck |
