RE: Name a book you want made into a movie - Karl12 - 09-20-2024 Don't reckon there's anything 'woke done right' mate' and Iain M Banks would be genuinely horrified about the promotion of hatred towards certain sections of society. Love anthropology myself and obviously everyone has a different fingerprint and we're all part of one 'species'. Reckon my favourite book is 'Inversions'. RE: Name a book you want made into a movie - Velvet Elvis - 09-20-2024 I would love to see Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson made into a movie. I love.Ernest.Cline, but yeah sadly, I'm sure you're right about how a lot of people would see Snow Crash as being derivative of Cline"s work. I haven't read The Diamond Age but I will now! RE: Name a book you want made into a movie - FlyersFan - 10-05-2024 ATLAS SHRUGGED. We rented the three part Atlas Shrugged 'on demand' on TV. It was lousy. It was three movies and each movie they recast the entire cast. And they barely touched on themes and story. I want Atlas Shrugged done right. It would probably take 4 movies each one being two hours. But I want it done right. RE: Name a book you want made into a movie - IdeomotorPrisoner - 10-05-2024 "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton. It's a newish book (2004) that's already too late to do, I think. Michael Crichton, in Andromeda Strain style, added science to his fiction, and has the protagonist argue against global warming narratives. Including an index of real world data to back up his character's claim. Urban heat islands and deforestation over carbon. Measuring in cities and basing data off that. While I disagree it should still be put out there, but studios would likely pass for that reason. Because if they cant annoyingly switch the children like they did in Jurassic Park, they wont produce it. Its main motif is politicized science. He predicts the future essentially. It came out 2 years before An Inconvenient Truth, which officially made this book's protagonist a cultural villain. If it stayed true, it would be a well received on the right, and hated on the left. RE: Name a book you want made into a movie - xpert11 - 10-08-2024 I am going to give a halfway answer for two reasons. I am a massive Lauren Oliver fan, and some of her books have already had screen adaptations. But I would welcome a film, limited series or console game version of Oliver's Delirium Trilogy. From memory, Prime owns the film rights to the Delirium Trilogy. There was also a failed pilot/attempt to launch that series on screen without her. Lauren's involvement would ensure a future adaptation is authentic to the source material. |
