RE: Quoteworthy Quotes - CCoburn - 07-05-2024 Since no thing defines its own creation, it cannot be held responsible for its nature. RE: Quoteworthy Quotes - CCoburn - 07-07-2024 My Wife is a Really Bad Cook My wife is a really bad cook. We were having dinner the other night, and when she wasn't looking, I slipped some to the dog; then he began vigorously lapping his butt, and my wife exclaimed: "What is he doing!?", to which I replied: "He's just trying to get the taste out of his mouth.". — Ron White(paraphrased) RE: Quoteworthy Quotes - CCoburn - 07-08-2024 "Mouseville was a place where all the little mice lived and played." Yes good call on that one and have always found 'quoteinvestigator' (amongst others) knows his or her stuff. Here's one about Einstein stating that "Imagination Is More Important Than Knowledge" (which he did). Also found this one from Sagan pretty ironic these days. Have to say I am a big fan of legitimate accredited quotes mate and think they are incredibly important (and useful) when it comes to conveying sometimes complicated ideas in a short pithy fashion. Probably all the more important these days as the average person (if there is such a thing) appears to have the average attention span of about one minute - probably due to social (media?) conditioning. It's twenty minutes long but thought there was some excellent quotes contained within this video - also some crucially important subject matter. Twenty minutes is eighteen minutes longer than I want to spend on a video. RE: Quoteworthy Quotes - Karl12 - 07-14-2024 That was exactly my point in the second paragraph. That is why quotes are so important. Edit Here's another one ArMap, whether you agree or disagree on the content quotes can certainly open communication channels and hopefully kickstart open, objective, adult discussions on fundamental topics. • "Secrecy is the keystone to all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy and censorship. When any government or church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man who has been hoodwinked in this fashion; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, whose mind is free. No, not the rack nor the atomic bomb, not anything. You can't conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." Robert A Heinlein. My problem is time, videos (or audio) force us to spend our time the way the video (or audio) creator wanted, so no thanks, I will use my time as I want, I will not spend 20 minutes watching a video to reach the end and think "I could have read that in one minute, why didn't they wrote it?". Quote:That is why quotes are so important.I agree. Give me a text instead of a video if what's important is the message. Yes, videos can be important to show moving images, but only for that. I agree with what is said on that (long) quote, and I can give you an example of that happening. During the fascist regime that ruled Portugal for 48 years, the Lisbon archbishop used to say that people should only be able to write their name, they should not learn how to read, as that way they could read the titles on the newspapers. At the time Portugal had a very low literacy rate. RE: Quoteworthy Quotes - CCoburn - 07-23-2024 The Moon Landings I do not believe that the Moon landings were faked; I do believe that we have the technology to get us to the Moon and back... ...most of the time. Yes I see where you are coming from and your thoughts did remind me of this extremely short video which explains a lot in an extremely short period of time. After all these years of interacting I do have a huge amount of respect for you ArMap (especially after Pegasus) but to not watch a video 'of more than 2 minutes' seems a little redundant to me my friend. How on earth are you going to learn anything? Change it to five or ten minutes then fair enough lol. My favourite method, reading. PS: unfortunately, Pegasus' forum has gone down and I can't do a thing about it. Quote:Change it to five or ten minutes then fair enough lol.In five minutes I can read two pages of a medium size book, while many videos spend the first 30 seconds advertising their creator as if they were some big news corporation and the rest of the time is spend going around and around the topic.
