Are there any decent news sites anymore? - boredhere74 - 01-02-2024

Just curious what everyone is using now. Fox news is just a want to be tmz now, and I cant handle all the woke crap on cnn. So is there any that ust have news, more or less no slant to it?

I hear you.   Fox news succors my confirmation bias, and CNN conflicts with it.   Neither really tell the whole truth.   I believe that CNN engages in more propaganda, but as I livelong scientist, I really have no way to measure that supposition.    I really dislike watching CNN where they cover a "news" story, show video and then tell us what we've just seen, as though we're just that stupid that we can't judge it on our own.

I feel very blessed to live on a small island country in the Caribbean.   Our politics are far from perfect here also.   When I feel tempted to complain, I watch 20 minutes of BBC, and I am cured of my desire to complain.

I think the BBC comes the closest to reporting the worst of what happened with a minimal amount of induced hyperbole.   Sky News is not so bad either.   Pretty fair, even with American politics.

You can look at the Media bias chart: https://adfontesmedia.com/ad-fontes-media-releases-new-media-bias-chart/

I use a number of sources -- NPR, Wall Street Journal (right-leaning), CBS, local news (actually it's the local PBS station), BBC, AlJazeera, Reuters, and AP News

Yes, I scan them all every morning, reading stories from each.  I find that this gives me a broader picture than reading just one source.

News?
You have to look in more than one place.
If I see CNN in a title search, I have found that for certain stories CNN seems to fairly present them.
New York Post.  Al Jareeza.  RT.com.  The Remnant. Occasionally FOX.  Occasionally American Greatness.

My main source though is Epoch Times.

My main source is BBC World, as I have found it to be the most comprehensive. But Al Jazeera, CNN and CBC World are good sources if you weed through their bias.
Meh…

All the big media places have been filtered for a while, just getting worst with how many important topics are taboo among social media as well. One news aggregate site with some of the smaller and more independent news sites.

censored.news

I like a some of the independent voices out there, not 100% on everyone all the time. Good researchers, interviews, asking hard questions. People like Maria Zeee, Amazing Polly, Del Bigtree, Mike Adams. Finding local sources on matters can help find a clearer picture.

A couple of other smaller outlets in Australia doing well:
thejuicemedia.com
gumshoenews.com

I read New York Post online during breakfast every morning.
Sometimes the Daily Mail.

For keeping track of (mostly) MSM headlines I like Newstable. it's an excellent tool for getting a feeling which narratives are being actively pushed by most outlets and which sources offer a different take. Use the menu to find news from specific regions of the world. Also great for improving skills in foreign languages.

Some examples for English speakers:

USA

UK/Ireland

Canada

Australia
