I have too many loved ones and friends in the area... meaning I'm gonna be worrying like crazy.... I hope everyone stays safe... RE: 'Here We Go Again'Hurricane Milton cat 4-5 heads towards Tampa - IdeomotorPrisoner - 10-07-2024 This low is dropping and dropping. 910 Mb and 175 MPH 905 Mb 893 Mb and 180 MPH wind. The pressure of the Labor Day Hurricane was 892. I hope for this one to be one of those storms that looks really scary but gets weakened a little, enough to spare the wind damage. This is low pressure, and like Katrina it's not going to lose it's Cat 5 surge, even making landfall at Cat 3 (as predicted) Scary is it's going to be between a Katrina and a Labor Day Storm. At this point it's just sending a general thought of "may everyone have the best luck possible." Yeah, Im a huge Hurricane nerd, Camille too was one of the lowest pressures of a Hurricane recorded in the Gulf, and yes they believe the Labor Day Hurricane and the Galveston Hurricane were likely much lower. This one is scary the flooding if it hits Tampa Bay at this intensity will be catastrophic. Ive been following storms here for the last few years it's a great site with lots of professional weather people https://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=59 Such a well-defined dynamic eye https://www.aoml.noaa.gov/general/graphics/lib/mgch.html Quote:Early on the 17th when Camille was centered 250 miles south of Mobile, AL, the Air Force team found a central pressure of 901 mb (26.61 inches) and maximum winds of more than 200mph near the center. That pressure reading was second only to the Labor Day hurricane of 1935 in which a 26.35 inch (892 mb) pressure was recorded in the Florida Keys. Camille and the 1935 Keys storm are the only category 5 hurricanes to hit the U.S. this century. The lowest pressure ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere occurred during Hurricane Gilbert in 1988--888 mb (26.23 lnches). The final death count for the U.S. is listed at 256. This includes the Gulf Coast and the Virginias--143 on the Gulf coast and another 113 from the Virginia floods. The damage in 1990 dollars is estimated at $5.2 billion. Camille was the 5th most costly storm in U.S. history, following Andrew, Hugo, Betsy, and Agnes. RE: 'Here We Go Again'Hurricane Milton cat 4-5 heads towards Tampa - putnam6 - 10-07-2024 Here's veteran John Morales getting upset and mentioning climate change as the cause for Milon's intensity. Im not as sure as he is that climate change is behind the intensity when we have had historical hurricanes when we weren't such filthy industrialists. 6 of these miscellaneous hurricane and tropical storm records occurred prior to 1973 if it were SOLEY climate change would we have more records in the last 20 years. Im not even going to get into the well-known El Niño and La Niña weather patterns, sure there is some effect but no indications it's the driving force here.Thoughts? Pressure down to 897 here's hoping it weakens significantly before land fall RE: 'Here We Go Again'Hurricane Milton cat 4-5 heads towards Tampa - pianopraze - 10-07-2024 Sold my sail boat when we went to Philippines a few years ago. Will buy another in next year or two. i always watch every hurricane. This one is going to hit both Labelle and merrit island, two places where I kept mine. Grew up in Titusville, this is first time in my over half century life Titusville is going to get hit. if I had a sailboat right now I’d be heading south through Caribbean. Crescent Beach, Ormond Beach, Melbourne, Stuart, Vero Beach, WPB, Boca, Lauderdale, Miami, Coral Gables Homestead, and many other locales over the years. Knew Homestead very well before and after Andrew There was a time when a sales rep in our business could live in Florida and make a pretty good living in just that state. Any hit in Florida bothers me I know areas in Tampa and Ybor City will be under water with Milton RE: 'Here We Go Again'Hurricane Milton cat 4-5 heads towards Tampa - putnam6 - 10-08-2024 Ive seen a recent well-regarded model show the track right into Tampa Bay tomorrow night pretty much worse-case track Quote:OSINTdefender RE: 'Here We Go Again'Hurricane Milton cat 4-5 heads towards Tampa - pianopraze - 10-08-2024 This guy is absolutely incredible. Watch all his videos. Watch these hurricanes come across from Africa, develop, through landfall.
