I'd like a button on the homepage that says view new thread posts so I don't have to weed through all the recent posts and can easily find the new thread. If it exists already please point me to it
im not wearing my glasses right now but i don't see it and I would really like to. Love the site so far though.also the portal.php page shows there's 2 new announcements but the homepage says there's zero

I've noticed that new announcement bug too! I wonder what they are.
For new threads with new posts I use this link:
https://denyignorance.com/activethreads.php?sort=max_dateline&order=descending
Which mostly works, it doesn't seem to include all forums though like no Intros I noticed?

You are right, UltraBudgie, your solution works well, but some forums are excluded. I had a similar solution with the same results... back to the drawing board.

Possibly because I deleted my previous post. Now I restored and edited it and yours is showing correctly.

Hmm there seems to be a 'activethreads_excluded_forums' setting for the plugin, so that is likely deliberate.
Perhaps consider this plugin https://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=116 if it wouldn't overload the search engine:

I may be misunderstanding what you guys are asking for, but when I log in I see this:
don't know how to scale image, but look for the yellow arrow. Dumb me, look at the line below where the arrow points.

What I would like was a "View New Threads" button, above or below the "View New Posts" button, so we could easily see which new threads were made without using the posts list and looking for what may be new threads.

That link the arrow points to is to show the newest, most recent, posts, which are not necessarily also the latest newly created threads/topics.
